Special Thanks to the New Students

hanks for attending the GCMA Coffee House! It was great to hear returning students tell tales of their summer vacations, and to meet the new students of the program! Special thanks to the new students, in fact, for stopping by to introduce yourselves and asking fantastic questions about the program. We received wonderful feedback and are excited to integrate the new ideas for activities and upcoming events. If you have any suggestions for future events or speakers, email us at

A: I recently changed companies in NYC... a larger adventure than I had ever imagined. As I was an-

nouncing my departure to coworkers administrators, my shocking feedback was not “Have a great life!” But rather “We will see you soon! Say hi to all my friends at your new job!” Could the NYC job scene be that tiny? Simply; way more than you think... One of the many reasons I personally joined the Graphic Communications program for both my undergraduate degree back in California and here again at NYU was for the connections in networking you make. I now work in the Branding Industry locally where 3 of the largest players in international branding sit less than 5 blocks away from each other. I have chosen a career path that at least requires if not demands me to step out of my shell and meet fellow workers and especially fellow students and teachers. The advice and direction that an ally in the industry can give you is priceless, and so easily at your fingertips in the person sitting next to you in lecture. This city, market, masters experience, etc. is too small not to reach out as much as you can! — Jeff Cheal President, GCMA
