Bro. Elgie R. Sims, Jr. is a member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 34th District. since Brother Sims is also the 26th Midwestern Regional Vice President of Alpha Phi Alpha. Bro. Sims earned his BS from Illinois State University. He went on to receive his MPA from the University of Illinois. He then earned his JD from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. He is an attorney for the Law Offices of Elgie R. Sims, Jr. He was sworn into state office on August 3, 2012.

NU RHO CHAPTER

Potential abounds in the 479th House. The Nu Rho Chapter (NP) was founded on Thursday, December 22, 1977 at the Illinois Institute of Technology. In the Spring of 1999, DePaul University was added to the chapter’s charter and has been an active campus for many years. The Chapter hosts several annual events such as the Spooky Zoo Community Service Day in October, the Miss Black & Gold Scholarship Pageant as well as a benefit fashion show for the March of Dimes, and the Black & Gold Scholarship Gala in the Spring as well as numerous other events throughout the year.
