生命的轉移 文/洪緹婕(路由藝術負責人) 「偶發藝術」一詞來自1959年艾倫•卡普羅與觀者共同創作的作品「六幕十八項偶發事件」 ,卡普羅 提出在偶發藝術中,觀者與藝術家皆為創作者,在不經過任何情節的編排同時一切偶然即興的狀況

下所產生的作品,即是一種行為拚貼,藉由這樣子的藝術形式,擴大對於藝術以及當下發生的事件的 感受性,使參與其中的觀者不單只是觀賞者的角色在欣賞作品,更進一步成為作品的一部份。偶發藝 術對於當代藝術的影響深遠,雖非商業空間中常見的展演,然而卻是路由藝術一直希望能介紹給大 眾的創作形式。

終於,路由藝術在邁入第三年之際,有幸能邀請目前居住在紐約,享譽國際的行為藝術家摩根•歐

哈拉來到台灣進行為期六週的創作。與歐哈拉的結緣來自於2012年她在紐約為了紀念其恩師John Cage

100歲冥誕所做的一個偶發性行為藝術表演,爾後透過工作室拜訪,慢慢的學習了解她如苦行

僧般的修煉,以及維持數十年的創作路徑。歐哈拉在這大半個世紀的創作生涯中,走遍世界各地體驗

人情風土,不論是義大利的孕婦生產記錄、墨西哥的百萬蝴蝶遷移、日本拉麵師父等等,歐哈拉透過 自己的觀察,經由手中的鉛筆和紙張,將日常生活的各種行為,亦或是在舞台上樂手、舞者、表演者的 移動路線平面化,成為一張張藝術創作。

來到台灣之前,我們即拍板要讓偶發藝術在藝廊發生,因此一直集思廣義希望能讓就算平常不走入

藝廊的民眾,也在不自覺的情況下進入一個行為藝術的表演場域。於是將路由藝術改造為一個偶發 性餐廳的構想出現了。幸而在各方好友的協助下,讓這個四月的每週五藝廊成為台菜餐廳。除了下班 夜的計劃,歐哈拉長期以來對於全球情勢和社會議題有很大的關注,然而因其個性使然,走上街頭抗

爭並非其首選,因此書寫計劃因而產生,用抄寫人權宣言來回應國際現勢。這兩個在路由藝術空間中 所發生的計劃也選入本次的生命移轉台灣畫冊之中。

除了在路由藝術室內所發生的事情之外,在這本畫冊中,我們也收錄歐哈拉走到戶外、站上舞台的作 品。 從觀察孔廟、 中正紀念堂的群眾, 到加工廠、 印刷公司的員工路線、 彩妝師和按摩師的雙手、 宜

蘭鄉間的耕作、 客家村的擂茶, 到私人爵士音樂會的聲音節奏的觀察, 甚至與台灣戲曲學院劇樂團

的合作, 在國家音樂廳參與的彩排和最後呈現等等, 這些關於台灣的點滴都讓歐哈拉以其專注的觀 察記錄在線條和畫面之中。

這個計劃的組成,不單只是來自於藝術家和藝廊的決心,更重要的是有太多太多從旁協助的朋友,沒

有你們以開放的心邀請,以及接納一個 “偶發的行為藝術” ,我想這冊“生命移轉在台灣”的故事是無 法編製而成的。謝謝你們,歡迎與我們用另一種方式閱讀這塊土地。

Live Transmission Nunu Hung The term Happening was first coined by Allan Kaprow in his piece 18 Happenings in 6 Parts, the work in which he collaborated with the audience in 1959. In Happenings, Kaprow mentions that both the audience and the artist are the creators, a work without any manipulation, produced in impromptu circumstances. It was a sort of performing collage, to broaden the range of art, transforming the audience from mere bystanders into active participants in the work of art. The Happening has a far-reaching impact on contemporary art, although it is not commonly seen in a commercial space or gallery. The Happening is an art form we have been hoping to introduce to the public here in Taiwan. As we approached our 3rd anniversary, it was our honor to invite the New York based, internationally renowned performing artist Morgan O’Hara to come to Taiwan for a six week residency. I met Morgan O’Hara in a performance artwork she created to commemorate her late mentor John Cage on the centennial of his birthday in 2012, in New York. Through studio visits thereafter, I slowly understood her ascetic-like practice as well as the creative process which she has maintained for decades. In O’Hara’s half-century artistic career, she has traveled around the world, making many drawings ranging from movement during the births of babies in Italy, to the migration of millions of butterflies in Mexico, to movements of a master of Japanese soba noodles, and so on. O’Hara transforms daily life and the motions of musicians, dancers and performers, into a system of lines in her art works by using her own powers of observation and pencils and paper, drawing simultaneous to a life activity with both hands. Before O’Hara came to Taiwan, we had decided to make one Art Happening in our gallery, so we began brainstorming to see how people who normally don’t enter the gallery could easily become part of a performance scene. Thus, the idea of ​​transforming Nunu Fine Art into an occasional restaurant came up. With help of friends we turned the gallery into a Taiwan cuisine restaurant each Friday in April, 2017. In addition to the Friday night plan, O’Hara, long concerned with the global situation and social issues, began the Handwriting the Constitution project in New York in January 2017. In Taiwan she began transcribing with participants from the gallery and neighborhood, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Chinese as an attempt to balance response to the current international atmosphere. These two projects which took place in Nunu Fine Art are also included in this LIVE TRANSMISSION volume. Apart from the projects staged in our gallery, we also include here art works O’Hara created outdoors and while watching performances on stage. She drew while watching people in Confucius Temple and Chiang Kai-shek’s Memorial Hall; employees’ movements in a print shop and factory; the movement of the hands of physical therapists and makeup artist; the movement of farmers in the country side of Yilan; the motion of people making Hakka tea, and the movement of sound and rhythm during a private Jazz concert. O’Hara also collaborated with The Orchestra of National Taiwan College of Performing Arts, recording with her pencils, its rehearsals and final performances. Through O’Hara’s observation, all the details and moments that happened in Taiwan became the lines and stories of her art works. The success of these projects does not merely result from the determination of the artist and the efforts of the gallery. Many friends provided their help and assistance. Without all the liberal minded people who attended and accepted a Happening, I believe that the story of this album LIVE TRANSMISSION IN TAIWAN would not have been accomplished. Thank you everyone. Please continue to join us as we bring to our country a new and distinct interpretation of art.
