Nuku’alofa Times - Page 22

Two cruise liners in a week

NUKU’ALOFA (Nuku’alofa Times): Nuku’alofa played host to around 4,400 tourists this week, who had arrived on two cruise liners that

berthed at the Vuna Wharf here in the capital. Around 3,000 passengers came off the Costa Luminosa on Monday morning. That included guests and

the crew of the giant cruise liner. The Costa Luminosa had arrived from Pagopago in American Samoa and left on Monday evening for New Zealand.

On Wednesday morning around 1,400 tourists arrived on the Pacific Pearl. The Pacific Pearl arrived from Fiji and was also scheduled to visit Vava’u

after the Nuku’alofa visit. Most of the tourists spent time walking around Nuku’alofa and the surrounding area, enjoying the sun. Others went on tours around

the island, visiting some of the historic sites on Tongatapu. Both liners were brought in by Jones Travel, who was their Inbound Operator.

Liku’alofa Resort is situated on west coast of Tongatapu, fringed with palm trees, surrounded by a lush tropical garden and sits along a stretch of white sandy beach. Most of our guests take a walk along the beach when they first arrive. Liku’alofa is based 20 minutes from the town of Nuku’alofa (the capital) and only 35 minutes from the airport. Seperating the lagoon from the deep blue sea is a reef with ten surf breaks, and beyond the reef, just afew hundred meters from the resort, mother whales and their babies swim past (mostly during whale season). Our custom love staying at Liku’alofa because they feel closer to the ocean than the other local resorts. Our bar & restaurant sit’s on the ocean edge and like most of our accommodation provides a gorgeous ocean view. If you will be visiting the Kingdom of Tonga - but not really sure where to start your holiday plans, we will be delighted to assist in anyway we can. Looking forward to meeting you and be your host at the beach of Love - Ofa Atu!
