When the idea to launch NUDE came about, I envisioned the concept clearly. It would be a publication that didn't shed light on just one aspect of the industry, but would feature everyone behind the scenes as well. Creatives such as models, stylists, designers, makeup artists and more would be included. It would showcase an array of people who strive for what they believe in and do what they love. It is my mission to give you a glimpse into the lives of those individuals, while also giving them a platform to showcase their work and talents. Here I am, a little more than one year later and this is only the beginning.

When I first started doing photography in 2012, it wasn’t often that you would find an all girls team working together on set for a shoot. There were times where some people on set would think my assistant was the photographer, because he was the guy, or implied that since I looked like a young female, I couldn’t possibly be the photographer. Being a woman in an industry full of men, wasn’t easy at first, but then I started finding myself working around more and more women, helping and motivating each other. Now, I love working in an all girls team. I’m not trying to say that working with men sucks, but I love seeing women come together to create and share ideas with each other. Shooting this set, Chinatown Mischiefs, was a shoot that I got to produce as well as creative direct. At first, I didn’t purposely choose all girls, but when I realized it, it made me happy to see that we were all together, on a Friday night, creating and exercising our art. In the beginning, during hair and makeup we got to have some girl chats - boys, art and maybe even a little gossip. Then, when we were done with hair and makeup, we made our way to the elevator, where we squeezed all six of us in, then halfway down we got stuck!!! We had to wait about 30-40 minutes before the fire department came, but I was glad we had each other. We were kind of having some fun in the elevator, since we didn’t have a choice to go anywhere. There were moments where we were snapchatting, laughing about the situation, and simply continuing the good vibes, even in a “scary” situation. Finally, when we got out, we went straight to Chinatown to start shooting. This is when I felt like we were all on an adventure playing dress up, like how girlfriends did in elementary school, but now it’s just a new level of dress up.

Working with strong female women in the industry has motivated me to keep creating and keep doing what I love, and not forgetting the reasons why I am pursuing my dreams. I don’t want to push away men in this industry, but it is time to have every person open their eyes to the equality that each person, man or woman, has the potential to fulfill the career path they want to pursue. -Emilynn Rose

NUDE: Introduce yourself! Tell our readers what you do on a daily basis. MB: Hi! My name is Maddi, I’m 18 and I live in LA. I’m originally from Orange County but I moved up to LA when I was 16! I would consider myself a pretty normal 18-year-old. A normal day for me consists of school, work, checking emails, editing or filming, eating lots of food, and hanging out with my boyfriend. NUDE: Did you ever imagine you’d be doing this at your age? MB: I never thought I’d be doing what I’m doing at my age. It all happened out of nowhere! When I started making videos at age 12, I would have never imagined that I would be traveling and partnering with incredible brands. I started my channel because I loved beauty and fashion, and it’s such a dream that I am able to make a job out of it. NUDE: How would you explain your personal style? MB: I never know how to answer this question (haha), but I guess if I had to describe my style I would say it’s pretty dark and grungy, and also kind of rockstar chic. I usually stick to simple dark colors and love to make a statement with bags and shoes. NUDE: What’s the biggest accomplishment you've had so far? MB: Hitting a million subscribers on YouTube was such a big accomplishment for me. At first it didn’t feel real that over a million people liked me and my videos enough to subscribe. 12-year-old Maddi would be losing her mind! NUDE: What’s the best part for you about your job? MB: I love being able to travel and work with new brands. I also love meeting new people - both people in the industry, and the amazing people who watch my videos. I get to connect with so many different kinds of people! It’s really fun.

A$AP Rocky and Bella Hadid are my fashion icons. Favorite drink? Chocolate almond milk!

NUDE: Introduce yourself! Tell the readers what you do on a daily basis. Joel: Hi my name is Joel Christian and I'm a creative fashion stylist living in Los Angeles. On a daily basis, I am always searching for inspiration, new trends, and setting up photo shoots to create amazing content. NUDE: How would you explain your personal style? Joel: My personal style has always been a way for me to somewhat brand who I am, as well as express my creativity. I love mixing and matching vintage pieces with street wear and I always will be wearing a graphic tee with some sort of statement jacket to complete the look. I guess my style is always transforming which is what keeps me going. NUDE: Is styling something you’ve always wanted to pursue? Joel: I would say yes, I'm a very creative individual so I've always wanted to do something that allows me to freely express the way I feel on a constant basis as an artist. I've always worked in the fashion business and when I started styling, I couldn't believe how much I fell in love with it and the passion I felt working with everyone on set made me fall even more in love with it - it's so magical.

NUDE: What’s your creative process for constructing looks for a shoot? Joel: I always begin with the story I want to tell when the audience sees the outfits. I like the viewer to be very curious of the outfit as well as the individual. When I start the process, I begin with tons of mood boards and pictures I've saved endlessly on Instagram and begin the process there. I always want to push the boundaries and create iconic content. NUDE: What’s different about your work? What’s your edge? Joel: I think a lot of the styles I use, leave an imprint on viewers when they see it. They want to know where it's from and how they can get their hands on it. I don't want to be a stylist that shows a look that everyone has seen before. I like to mix and match - use pieces that are incredibly hard to find. I want to incorporate as much diversity within each outfit to keep the audience engaged.

Favorite song at the moment? That's hard cause I listen to so many. I've been listening to Pretty Lights, Glass Animals, Stevie Nicks, and M83 a lot lately. Tea or Coffee? Iced Coffee all the way, rain or shine (haha). Favorite city? My favorite city is San Francisco because I lived there in my early 20's. It's where I truly felt I discovered who I was as a person and it continues to hold a special place in my heart.

N U D E

Who's your fashion icon? OMG! I have so many - I like people who push the limits. I'm very obsessed right now with Keke Palmer, Jaden Smith, Sofia Richie and Amanda Steele. Favorite drink? A really good Moscow Mule. Favorite movie and/or book? That's easy! I'm a proud wizard and a Slytherin, so ALL of the Harry Potter films and books. Lastly, a quote you live by? "We do not need magic to transform our world. We carry all of the power we need inside ourselves already." - J.K. Rowling

NUDE: Introduce yourself! Tell the readers what you do on a daily basis. TT: Hi! I am an editorial and fashion photographer. I live at home with my family, go to Fullerton College and I am majoring in professional photography. I currently work and go to school so in general my normal day is very hectic but I try to get a small practice shoot in every week and a bigger, more planned out shoot in every month. NUDE: How would you describe your work? TT: Edgy, editorial directed by fine art. I want people to be taken aback by my work, and if they find it odd, that's ok too. NUDE: Is photography something you’ve always wanted to pursue? TT: I have been interested in all arts since as long as I can remember but I got into photography my senior year of highschool and never looked back. Right out of highschool I started my degree and pursued as many photography opportunities as I could get my hands on! NUDE: What’s your creative process for constructing a mood for a shoot? TT: When I first think of a photo shoot idea, I go on to pinterest and create a pinboard for it. I look up keywords that might go along with the theme and add any image that can help with styling, posing, or lighting.

NUDE: What’s different about your work? What’s your edge? TT: I believe that anyone can learn the correct techniques to create a good photograph, but only an artist can make it great. I like to think of myself as an artist and the edge I have in this industry is that I have the capability to think of concepts in my mind, communicate the thoughts to my team, and create art. Favorite song at the moment? Fade by Kanye West. Tea or Coffee? Tea - iced and sweetened. Favorite city? Los Angeles. Who’s your fashion icon? Zendaya. Favorite drink? Orange Hi-C. Favorite movie and/or book? Movie: Harry Potter: The Half Blood Prince. Book: Milk and Honey. Lastly, a quote you live by? “You know they’re a good photographer when they get on the floor to get the shot.” -Cassidy Cooper (Stylist).
