A CITY LIKE NO OTHER Vibrant, thriving and friendly, Newcastle has gained a well-deserved reputation as one of the UK’s favourite student cities and the cosmopolitan capital of the North East of England. One in six people in Newcastle is a student, helping create the city’s vibrant social scene and renowned nightlife. Our famous warm Geordie welcome will help you feel at home straightaway.

A world top 100 student city (QS Best Student Cities 2017) Just a short walk from our University campus is one of the most beautiful, friendly and lively cities in the UK. It boasts world-class arts, music, shopping and sport right in the city centre and we’re just 25 minutes from both the beach and countryside.

Friendly, multicultural and safe Newcastle has a reputation for being one of the friendliest cities in the UK. It’s no wonder then that our students feel safe on campus with a satisfaction rating of 93% for safety (International Student Barometer, Autumn 2016).

Affordable living Your money goes further in Newcastle. Student rents and the cost of living are amongst the lowest in the UK, offering greater value for your investment, providing more opportunities for you to explore this international city.

30 | A city like no other

Iconic architecture Newcastle is a beautiful city, with Georgian buildings standing alongside iconic modern architecture. You only have to look at the Quayside, with its seven bridges, art galleries, international music venues and thriving restaurants and bars, to see why so many students affectionately refer to the city as their second home.

Great transport links Getting around the city is simple, with a comprehensive bus and cycle network and Metro rail system connecting all areas of the city and region. Newcastle also has an international airport and ferry terminal, meaning the city is well connected to the rest of the UK, Europe and beyond. This makes getting home for the holidays or using the city as a base to explore further afield really easy.
