Welcome to Nordic Tabler Meeting 2011 Honnered Tabler

Welcome to Aalborg and the Nordic Tabler Meeting 2011 We are proud of our host ship and are looking forward to receive you and for “tabling” with you all, i.e. international and Danish guest. We hope there will be some fantastic days, with lots of fun and joy and that friendships will be formed beyond the borders. Nordic Tabler Meeting is a unique Round Tabler event, because it is for all Tablers. In the old days it was only for the national board, but now it is for everybody in Round Table. The NTM is one of the most popular meetings. We have made a great deal out of the profile throughout the last year in reaching as many as possible. Through YouTube videos, promotion materials and joining NTM in Vilnius and RTI in Bremerhaven, we have spread the message to come and join the NTM in Denmark. The days in Aalborg will be marked by the national’s boards meetings, but there will also be an opportunity for the different clubs to have there own club meetings, i.e. both formal and informal. We have as a service for the clubs who wish to do this arranged that you can borrow a night club in Jomfru Ane Gade in the day hours. We hope that you will use the time, which is not in the official program to experience Aalborg on your own hand. You could take a stroll in the old part of town, where our own clubhouse is. It is an old city house from the 18th century which we are sharing with RT5. We would like to offer you a welcome with a “snaps”. Aalborg is the birth town of “snaps”. The world famous red Aalborg “snap” is born in this town and we have arranged a guided trip on Friday and Saturday. You will also have the opportunity to see Aalborg from above, since we are going to see the “Aalborg Tårnet”, which is a tower and city mark of Aalborg. The program will have a lot of opportunities of making own experiences and visit museums, sightseeing, shopping, nightlife or whatever the heart desirers. Grab one of the RT81 and get some good ideas to what to do or what to see. We are looking forward to seeing you and giving you some unforgettable days in the friendly Nordjutland. Welcome to Aalborg Yours in tabling

Morten Fals Convenor.

Aalborg is situated in the heart of Scandinavia and has almost 200,000 citizens. Presently there are many exciting projects underway in our city as it is changing from a traditional industrial town to a modern city. We are heavily investing in the future by radically changing the old industrial parts of the city into sensitively designed centers of culture, recreational spaces and attractive residential and commercial areas. ¡

These essential developments have not happened overnight; instead, they have happened though visionary political leadership, a determinations to succeed, large strategic investments, a strong focus on education, and research and with a lot of help from innovative local businesses. Aalborg is a lively city with a rich cultural life which among other things including several theatres, grand music venues, exciting museums worth visiting, cosy pedestrian areas with a great variety of shops and an innovative new harbour front. Jomfru Ane Gade One of the most popular and famous streets in Aalborg, possibly even in Denmark, is Jomfru Ane Gade, or simply just Gaden (“The Street”). The name translates to “Virgin Ane’s Street” in English. Jomfru Ane Gade is a café and restaurant street during day which, at night, turn into clubs, discos and bars. During the day, tourists and employees in the city come to Jomfru Ane Gade, especially for its restaurants. In the afternoons some of the cafés open. Around 11 pm, the mood of the street changes into more of a party street when younger people arrive.

Pernod Ricard Denmark boasts a special skill when it comes to aquavit. It is based in the Aalborg factory, which has been developing its capabilities within the noble art of distilling since 1881. The factory in Aalborg produces rectified spirits through the fermentation and distillation of corn. This is the first step in the refinement of corn to spirits. Selected distillates and extracts of herbs is then added to the rectified spirit to then become the well-known Aalborg aquavits. Exclusive guided tours has been arranged for Round table.

Aalborg Tower

The Aalborg tower is a viewing tower that represents a popular attraction for people of all ages. It was built in 1933 and is 55 metres high. It provides spectacular views over the North Jylland countryside and the Limfjord to the north of the city. The tower has a kiosk and a café/restaurant. The perfect place to come on a fine day, when views extend as far west as the North Sea and as far east as the Kattegat.

Experience Aalborg by night

We in RT81, Aalborg, have prepared us well to the NTM event, and has since we have been

given the host ship back in May 2010 worked determined to live up to the expectations that automatically follows when the NTM is to be held in Denmark.

The thought of being a host club was born at NTM in Tallinn in 2009. Convenor Morten Fals was with a couple of others Nordic Tablers on the way in a taxi to an Estonian home party. It was discussed that it was about time that Denmark was going to have the NTM host ship. After an unforgettable Estonian home party words were transferred into action. Now the waiting time is over and it is Denmark which is the host for unforgettable home parties. The support to RT81 having the host ship is great. There are a number of the others Aalborg clubs that has offered to have home parties. At the opening evening Thursday the 13th October there will be a special atmosphere, since all the clubs in Nordjutland are joining. RT81 was chartered in 1945 by RT62 and has today 25 members. The club has a remarkable club spirit and has through the years had many exiting meetings. I 2010, the RT81 was awarded the prize for having the year meeting when they had a visit by Kurt Westergaard, who is the one who painted the Mohammed drawings. The travelling activities have always been great with ski trips, trips to Hamburg, London and Talinn plus different euro meetings. This has contributed to a great club life. We hope that you all will have some great days in Aalborg.

Chairman Lasse Nebelung, RT81 – Aalborg.

Aalborg is a multi-faceted city - full of contrasts. A city with a lust for life and all of its pleasures. It’s also grand on a manageable scale. All the major city attractions are concentrated within easy distance. From fast-paced fun to peaceful oases. From a foaming draft beer to sublime gastronomy. From the Viking era to the Middle Ages, to modern, international art. And Aalborg is an unusually great shopping city. Welcome to Aalborg!
