heALth AND hoUSING SerVICeS SUPPort cont� SerVICeS cont� Shelter Aid for elderly renters (SAFer) www.bchousing.org 604-433-2218 the SAFer program helps make rents affordable for BC Seniors with low or moderate incomes by providing direct financial assistance� You may be eligible for SAFer if you meet all of the following conditions: you are age 60 or older; have lived in BC for the full 12 months immediately preceding your application; you and your spouse (with whom you are living) meet the citizenship requirements; you pay more than 30% of your gross (before tax) monthly household income towards the rent for your home� the amount of subsidy you receive depends on the amount of your rent and on your monthly income�
SeniorS’ SUPPortiVe HoUSinG Supportive housing is independent housing with a combination of onsite supports available to residents including: a private living space, monitoring or emergency response, at least one meal per day, housekeeping, and recreational activities� A limited amount of support is provided by Vancouver Coastal health to residents of Anavets, Sunnyside, and twin towers where a coordinator facilitates programs such as meals, exercise, mental fitness, podiatry, nursing clinics, support, and information�
