Early settlement of what is now the County of Newell followed the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in 1883. Kinbrook Island Provincial Park is located on the eastern side of the lake.

A day of people dressed in medieval costumes, armour, and chainmail on the grounds. Some are fighting knights stepping into the epic to face an opponent, some are jousting knights in shining armour, mounted on their trusty steeds, Be part of a feast or even the King of the event.

All the water delivered through the irrigation system of the Eastern Irrigation District is diverted from the Bow River at the Bassano Dam. The 1,200 irrigation farmers receive their water through a system of 4,800 kilometers (3,000 miles) of canals and drains and thirteen internal storage reservoirs.

A beautiful example of culture and education, experience the culture, art, food, and performances of the Blackfoot people.

Dragons on Lake Newell

A trip to Dinosaur Provincial Park is a 75 million-year foray back in time. Strange land formations rise up on all sides, sculpted by wind and water into hauntingly beautiful shapes sunbathed in terra cotta, bronze and amber

The museum is organized to be a “Walk Through The Ages. Our extensive collection includes exhibits portraying the life of early ranchers, the war years, the N.W.M.P., the Canadian Pacific Railroad, and the Eastern Irrigation District.
