Aspen - Welcome

ASPEN 2022 The mountain town of Aspen, Colorado developed slowly, thanks to its remote location. It has now become one of the world’s top silver producers Aspen, Colorado is located in Pitkin County, Colorado, United States. It is in a isolated area of the Elk Mountains in the Rocky Mountains. With a population of 6.658 permanent residents, Aspen sits along the gorgeous flowing Roaring Fork River. At an elevation just below 8,000 feet above sea level, Aspen is a place where you can see a variety of things from large bear tracks to celebrities up above on ski lifts. Aspen being the crown jewel of Colorado’s ski resorts is a popular location for skiing, of course, summer activities, the arts, music and business. Aspen - History

In 1879 the first prospectors arrived in soon to become Aspen and determined the area contained large deposits of silver ore. The following fourteen years Aspen’s riches rose and it eventually became a producer of 1/6th of the nation’s and 1/16th of the world’s silver. However, the repeal of the Sherman Silver Act of 1893 cause Aspen to enter the time known as “The Quiet Years,” with the population falling drastically to less than 1000 people. Aspen was eventually reborn as a ski town in the 1940s, molded into a great cultural center.


Aspen - Activities Aspen has become a very popular playground for the rich and famous. Downtown is filled with many upscale restaurants and shops. There are many outdoor recreation areas including the White River National Forest and the four ski areas that surround. The largest of the four renowned ski areas is the Snowmass Ski Areas of Snowmass Village. The other surrounding ski areas included Aspen Mountain, Buttermilk, and Highlands.


Many other adventures Aspen has to offer is enjoyable sleigh rides, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Summer activities include mountain biking, hiking, white water rafting, fishing, exploring the famous mines, and of course enjoying the incredible views and scenery that Aspen and all the surrounding areas have to offer. Included in the many things that Aspen has to offer is The Lewis Ice Arena, which is located in the Aspen Recreational Area. The Lewis Ice Arena includes an NHL regulation-size ice surface grandstand seating for 450, a comfortable lobby, with plenty of surroundig space to expand. There are multiple team locker and shower rooms that are equipped for full ADA accessibility.


Aspen - Winter X Games Aspen has been home to the Winter X Games for an unprecedented thirteen years. So you can guarantee tons of excitement with concerts, fireworks, and plenty of enthusiasm. And for nighttime fun, the town becomes home of the Party Under the Stars including dinner and drink specials, live music and dancing. You can guarantee Aspen has a calendar full of event varying from ballet and music to art openings and intellectual lectures. Aspen brings all the desires of art and culture of the city without all the bustle of the city.


Aspen -Transportation

Aspen offers convenient transportation with eight free bus routes that can show you all that Aspen has to offer. Bus rides from Aspen to Aspen-Pitkin County Airport are free as well as rides between Aspen and Snowmass Village. However if you prefer the comfort of the your own car, Aspen offers CAR TO GO, Aspen’s car share program that is a convenient, cost saving alternative to car ownership.
