OCTOBER 7, 2015 HONORING MICHAEL DELL FOUNDER | CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD | CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER | DELL INC.
WE TRANSFORM LIVESFAST Thank you for joining us. Tonight you’ll hear from NPower’s partners, volunteers and students about how we’re transforming lives with the help of the tech community. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished so far in 2015, and together we are making a positive impact in the world.
What we’ve accomplished together With your help, NPower is growing— and impacting more lives. Technology Service Corps, now with over 1,000 graduates, enables young adults and veterans to pursue technology careers by providing free tech and soft-skills training, hands-on internships, and job placement support. The ROI of the Technology Service Corps program for one graduate averages 40X. Since 2012, we’ve opened new job training programs in Harlem, North Texas, the San Francisco Bay Area and Toronto, Canada. Next month, we’re officially launching in New Jersey as well. Back in 2002, we started with 10 students; this year, we will train 600. Together, we’re helping young adults and veterans transform their passion for technology into lifelong careers. In 2011 we launched The Community Corps, a platform to connect tech professionals with nonprofits and schools who were desperately in need of tech help to achieve their missions. Thanks to your support, we continue to grow that important work and NPower’s 8,000+ tech volunteers have now helped 2,200+ nonprofits and schools in 40 states across the US. Since 2014 we’ve begun to leverage NPower’s amazing tech volunteers as role models, teachers and mentors to directly inspire young people to achieve their dreams thru technology. And in 2015 we launched several new, high impact, tech volunteerled programs directly in schools to inspire and help young people build tech skills and transform their lives. And there’s so much more we can do together. With your help, we can carry NPower’s national and international impact to the next level.
This evening Tonight we are proud to gather together in recognition of NPower’s 2015 Gala honoree— Michael Dell, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Dell Inc. Michael needs no introduction; he helped to launch the 1980s personal computer revolution, starting out with $1,000 and a vision. Today, Dell Inc. is a world leader in the computer industry, dedicated to “Powering the Possible”—i.e., achieving positive social and environmental impact through the power of technology and innovation. Dell’s philanthropic initiatives include strengthening communities through youth education programs, community service, disaster relief, protecting the environment and much more. In 1999, Michael and Susan Dell co-founded the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, dedicated to transforming the lives of children living in urban poverty through better health and education. The Foundation has given well over a billion dollars in support of this urgent mission. Michael and Dell Inc. are among NPower’s most valued partners, in our fight to break the cycle of poverty through education and innovative uses of technology.
This evening we invite you to join the NPower community. Get personally engaged: • Refer your favorite nonprofit or school to get tech help • Volunteer your expertise • Host an intern/apprentice or a site visit • Be a mentor • Join an NPower Advisory Council or Board • Become a corporate or an individual sponsor Let’s address the world’s challenges together and show the incredible power of the tech community. Thank you for joining us this evening – thank you for supporting NPower!
ABOUT THE EVENT NPower’s Annual Gala brings together leaders from all sectors – technology, corporate, education, and philanthropy – united in support of NPower’s work. Together we celebrate our impact and acknowledge the outstanding support of our partners. Tonight is truly the marquis “tech for social good’ event of the year.

After I graduated I became more focused and definite in terms of meeting my goals. NPower provides you with an opportunity to jump into the professional world of technology which might not have been an option for you before.”

“I am really glad I got to learn coding today. I’m interested in computers and it is my goal to learn how to code, but the computer science class at my school is all boys. I didn’t want to be the only girl and only beginner. The corporate volunteers today were so welcoming and they made me feel like I could do it. I want to continue coding with other girls now.” Jersey City High School Student Participant in The Community Corps-Cognizant Saturday Coding Event
Partnering with volunteers, nonprofits & schools to close the tech skills gap One of NPower’s biggest assets is our access to technology professionals, like you, who can help make the world a better place. The Community Corps was created to leverage their skills and easily enable tech volunteers to do social good. Every day, through NPower, tech volunteers are teaching tech skills in classrooms, mentoring students, hosting site visits and career days, and giving career advice to individuals and groups of students, all with the goals of transforming lives thru technology. NPower tech volunteers also help nonprofits and schools build tech skills and improve their own capacity to use technology to do social good and achieve their mission.

Read carefully between the lines of a contract and you will see room for a relationship. It is this relationship that makes us, Ideapreneurs, push the envelope, burn the midnight oil and see beyond the clauses A, B and C. In such a relationship you’ll find interactions with trust, transparency and flexibility. It’s about people coming together to create ideas, value and sometimes even history.
Hello there! I am an Ideapreneur. I believe that sustainable business outcomes are driven by relationships nurtured through values like trust, transparency and flexibility. I respect the contract, but believe in going beyond through collaboration, applied innovation and new generation partnership models that put your interest above everything else.
