‘This is a call to action’
While many a beachgoer saw this as a weekend for enjoying the warm weather, for one Grabouw family it was one of hope with a rather tragic end. One family hoped against all hope their 14-year-old, who had gone missing at Hawston Beach, would be found alive. But alas, it was not to be...
According to Edrich Kotze, station commander of the NSRI Hermanus, Siyanda Plaatjies is now presumed drowned, having considered the circumstances and exhausted all the variables and responses within the institute’s capacity, even though a body had yet to be found.
He said: “At 12:19 on 9 November NSRI Hermanus duty crew were activated following eyewitness reports of a drowning in progress at Hawston Beach.”
Kotze said rescue swimmers, from NSRI Hermanus and from NSRI Kleinmond, responded directly to the scene, while NSRI rescue craft were launched at NSRI Hermanus station 17 rescue base and at NSRI Kleinmond station 42.
NSRI Hermanus and NSRI Kleinmond rescue vehicles, the SA Police Services, WC Government Health EMS am-
bulance and EMS rescue squad, ER24 ambulance services, Overstrand Fire and Rescue Services, Overstand Law Enforcement, Overstrand Safety and Security and CMC ambulance services (Critical Medical Care), responded. A Metro rescue drone was also activated.
“Two NSRI rescue craft searched in and beyond the surf zone,” Kotze said. “NSRI rescue swimmers were deployed into the water conducting free-dive sweeping line-search efforts, while a Metro Rescue drone conducted aerial search efforts.
“Despite extensive aerial, sea and shoreline search efforts there remained no sign of the missing teenager, who was last seen in the water offshore of rocks at Op die Punt, Hawston Beach.”
At his behest police opened an investigation and police divers were tasked in ongoing search efforts.
According to Siyanda’s foster mother, Nichaela Maarman, he went to Hawston Beach with friends on Sunday. “We are not doing well. Siyanda had been in our house since 2021 and he was the sweetest child. I wouldn’t say he was an angel, but he was loving and always took everyone’s feelings into account.”
She said his foster family would find closure only when a body, presumably his, is found.
“I mean, for funeral arrangements to be made there has to be a body, you know.” she said. Grabouw community leader Isabel Bailey said Siyanda was a tease and quite a card. “He always made jokes; I will miss him a lot.”
His school, Groenberg Secondary in Grabouw, where he was in Grade 9, announced the presumed death of one of its beloved learners on Facebook on Monday.
“Siyanda was a beloved member of our school community and was very popular among his

circle of friends and peers,” principal Ralston Parnell said.
“His passing leaves a huge void in our hearts and in the Groenberg family.
“Our thoughts and condolences go out to Siyanda’s family, friends and all those affected by this tragedy. The school, in collaboration with the Overberg District Office, is offering counselling and emotional support to learners and staff.”
Statistics paint a stark picture

of drownings, which claim more than 236 000 lives globally each year, and is one of the top 10 causes of death among children aged 5 to 14. “This is not just a statistic, but a call to action,” Mike Vonk, NSRI CEO, declared.
With more than 3 000 km of coastline, countless rivers, lakes and dams South Africa faces unique safety challenges. With the holiday season and warmer weather approaching the NSRI has issued the following tips:
• Never go swimming alone;
• Learn to swim – equip yourself and your children with basic water survival skills. Supervise children – drowning is silent. Always keep a close watch on children.
• Avoid alcohol near water –stay alert and in control.
• Use proper safety gear – lifejackets save lives. Bailey puts the body’s return in God’s hands. “We request prayers and support, particularly for prospective funeral arrangements. Please contact me on 078 827 9161.”

by Gansbaai (97,8%), Koekemoer by Pearly Beach (100%), Theewaterskloofdam (79,2%) en die Eikenhofdam (95,11%).

Remembrance Day is observed worldwide and is also a significant day in Hermanus.
Few visitors to Hermanus and residents nowadays realise they’re walking through one of the most militarily significant towns in South Africa’s history. During World War I this coastal community achieved the remarkable distinction of having the highest level of volunteering per capita in the entire British Empire, a testament to the patriotic spirit that still resonates today.
The Cenotaph War Memorial itself, erected in 1929, stands as a permanent reminder of the sacrifice of the many local volunteers who never returned, from both world wars. But Hermanus’ military connections extend far beyond those conflicts.
The town’s wartime legacy reads like a who’s who of military history. During World War II Hermanus operated as a radar station, playing a crucial role in coastal defence. The community also claims a connection to one of the war’s most famous escapees – Roger Bushell, a Royal Air Force fighter pilot who led the legendary great escape from a German
prisoner-of-war camp, albeit tragically short-lived, which was later immortalised on film. His family’s roots ran deep in Hermanus soil, and today, Hermanus High continues to honour his memory with the Roger Bushell Trophy, awarded annually to the school’s top achiever. Victoria Cross recipient Lance-Corporal William Henry Hewitt also holds a special place in local memory, his ashes scattered at the scenic Gearing’s Point. General Jan Smuts, wartime Prime Minister and renowned statesman, maintained strong ties with the town; his sister, Bebas Smuts, served as Mayor of Hermanus throughout much of World War II, from 1941 to 1946.
The spirit to commemorate those who served continues to thrive in modern Hermanus, exemplified by the Hermanus Sea Scouts, who took part in commemorative events on Friday and Sunday. “On Friday, they placed poppies on the crosses placed in the cemetery in remembrance of those who served,” Overstrand Municipal Manager Dean O’Neill said. At Sunday’s service at the Cenotaph War Memorial locals and visitors alike were able to pay homage to the dead of both world wars.

Residents and tourists planning to celebrate with fireworks this season will need to think again, as the municipalities in the Overberg have issued a comprehensive ban on all pyrotechnic displays across the region.
The municipal authorities have taken a zero-tolerance stance on fireworks, warning that lighting them anywhere within municipal boundaries – including on private property – is strictly prohibited and carries serious legal consequences.
“Remember, the use of Chinese (sky) lanterns, firecrackers, and flares for any purpose other than an emergency is prohibited by law. Selling fireworks in the Overberg is illegal, and all fireworks are banned across the region. Don’t risk it, using or buying fireworks is dangerous and unlawful,” the Municipal Manager of the Overstrand Municipality, Dean O’Neill said.
The municipalities continue to work closely with the police to ensure community safety. If you see fireworks being used or sold illegally, report it immediately to your nearest police station.
FOUR PAWS South Africa, a worldwide animal welfare organisation for animals under direct human influence, appeals to communities to prioritise animal safety during the festive season. “Fireworks may be a thrill for some, but for animals, they’re a source

of panic and trauma,” says Fiona Miles, Director of FOUR PAWS South Africa.
“Every year, we see pets go missing, injure themselves, or suffer severe anxiety due to the noise and chaos. It’s time we prioritise compassion over spectacle.”
Practical tips to support your pet, your neighbours, and their animals:
• Create a calm zone: Set up a quiet, enclosed space with familiar bedding and toys. Play soft music to mask outside noise.
• Avoid leaving pets alone: Stay with your pet during peak firework hours. Your presence is reassuring.
• Microchip and tag: Ensure your pet is microchipped and wears an ID tag in case they escape in fear.
The police are calling on residents who have inherited firearms to ensure they comply with legal requirements before it’s too late.
Under the Firearms Control Act, 2000 (Act No 60 of 2000) anyone who inherits a firearm must obtain the appropriate licence, permit or authorisation.
Those who do not wish to keep the inherited firearm have four legal op-
tions: they can have the firearm deactivated by a gunsmith, dispose of the firearm according to Firearms Control Act provisions, sell the firearm to an accredited dealer or individual, or voluntarily surrender the firearm to police for destruction.
The Registrar can issue temporary authorisation to give inheritors reasonable time to comply with these requirements.

In a landmark judgment bridging technology and tradition the Northern Cape High Court in Kimberley has ruled that an electronically-signed will can be valid, declaring the 2021 will of the late Constitutional Court Justice Yvonne Mokgoro to be her lawful last testament.
Justice Mokgoro, who died in May 2024, left two wills. Her 2014 will favoured her life partner, David Mmelesi, with key assets, while her 2021 will divided her Kimberley property equally among her four children, still gifting her Jeep to Mmelesi. The 2021 document, however, was signed electronically, leading to a legal dispute after Mmelesi challenged its validity under the Wills Act and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
Central to the case was an email from Justice Mokgoro to her confidants, instructing them on how to witness her will electronically. The court found that this email clearly
reflected her intention for the 2021 document to serve as her final will.
Judge Lever ruled that Section 2(3) of the Wills Act allows a court to validate a document that fails to meet formal requirements if it was clearly intended as the deceased’s will.
The judge stressed that the purpose of the law is to uphold genuine testamentary intent rather than defeat it through technicalities.
While the judgment stops short of endorsing electronic will-signing in general, it marks a significant step in recognising digital communications as credible evidence of intent. The court ordered costs against Mmelesi and upheld Justice Mokgoro’s final wishes to distribute her estate equally among her children.

The importance of community involvement has again come to light with a local neighbourhood watch helping police track down a prisoner who had escaped from Helderstroom prison, outside Caledon.

Singabakho Nxumalo, spokesperson for the Department of Correctional Services (DCS), confirmed inmate Jakob September had been successfully rearrested in the Overberg area at approximately 21:00 on Saturday following a coordinated search operation.
The importance of community involvement has again come to
“September escaped from the dairy team around 11:00 on Saturday while performing work duties at the animal-grazing area within the prison grounds of Helderstroom Correctional Centre,” he confirmed. The 44-year-old male was serving a life sentence imposed in 2011 for rape and murder.
According to Nxumalo the department’s emergency-support team, together with security officials and members of the South
African Police Service in Villiersdorp and Caledon, immediately activated a joint operation to ensure the swift apprehension of the escapee.
The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen (Adv) TE Patekile, thanked the members of the police drone unit, visible policing, public order police, the K9 unit, private security and the DCS for their commitment to the re-arrest of the inmate.
“Hampered by difficult terrain and darkness the police drone unit was mobilised to assist the members on the ground with the search. Extensive search efforts paid off when its thermal-imaging technology located the inmate in the river, where he was re-arrested.”
Nxumalo said the DCS remained committed to maintaining the safe and secure custody of inmates and extended its appreciation to all cluster partners and local agricultural network for their cooperation and decisive action that led to the rapid rearrest.

In an era when conservation often feels like an uphill battle, one man’s extraordinary dedication has transformed more than 800 hectares of former farmland into the Western Cape’s newest ecological treasure.
The Mount David Nature Reserve, officially declared on 7 November, stands as a testament to what’s possible when passion meets persistence – a thriving sanctuary where critically endangered species once thought nearly extinct now call home.
What began as Diepgat farm in 2008 has undergone a remarkable metamorphosis under the stewardship of Antony van Hoogstraten, who spent nearly two decades systematically restoring what cattle and crops had claimed. Today, where livestock once grazed, pristine fynbos flourishes alongside crystal-clear wetlands and seeps, creating a haven that has already yielded stunning scientific discoveries –including a healthy breeding population of the elusive Moonlight Mountain Toadlet and a critically endangered Erica species previously thought to be on the brink of extinction.
“The declaration of Mount David forms part of the Western
Cape’s growing network of protected areas, helping to conserve biodiversity, restore degraded landscapes, and strengthen the province’s ecological services that our nature provides. These ecological services are critical to the wellbeing of the province’s people and economy and include basic services from clean water and healthy soils to more complicated aspects of climate regulation and strengthening ecological corridors,” said Anton Bredell, Western Cape Provincial Minister of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning.
CapeNature facilitates the legal administrative process to declare these sites as Protected Areas in terms of the National Environmental Management Protected Areas Act. The Nature Reserve was declared on 7 November this year. The negotiation and facilitation of the process have been implemented by Bionerds for the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT), with support from CapeNature.
Bionerds wrote the Protected Area Management Plan for this property independently of this project, and it was signed off in 2023.
In 2020, after months of lockdown, conservationists from Bionerds surveyed the neighbouring

Maanschynkop Nature Reserve in the Overstrand, in search of the elusive Moonlight Mountain Toadlet (Capensibufo selenophos), a species listed as Data Deficient. Although the team found no trace of the toadlet there, a chance exploration of Diepgat’s upper slopes revealed a healthy, breeding population of the species thriving on the property.
Alouise Lynch, Director of Bionerds, helped to facilitate the process of getting Mount David declared as a provincial nature reserve, along with the EWT.
“Part of our project with the EWT was to work with landowners to find a formal mechanism to secure properties where we have found target frog species. We assessed Diepgat and presented on the biodiversity, ecological, and landscape importance of the property to CapeNature,” she said.

“To have recorded a new breeding locality for the Moonlight Mountain Toadlet was a special addition to the ecological diversity of this property, and to have a landowner who was committed to conservation through his actions, such that the ecosystems are in a near-pristine condition, is perhaps the greatest reward for anyone working with threatened species and habitats.”
This discovery highlights the ecological integrity of Diepgat and the impact of years of restoration work. It also opened the door to protected area recognition. Leop-
ard, Klipspringer and Grey Rhebok, Black Harrier, Verreaux’s Eagle and Blue Cranes have also been documented on the property.
Shortly after the discovery of the Moonlight Mountain Toadlet, Bionerds met with the Van Hoogstraten family to discuss the possibility of making sure that their conservation efforts were secured through formal protection. The Van Hoogstraten family chose the name Mount David Nature Reserve.

Overstrand Municipality is flying high on the international stage, cementing its reputation as one of South Africa’s premier coastal destinations with a remarkable collection of Blue Flag recognitions that showcase the region’s commitment to world-class environmental standards.
For the 2025-’26 Blue Flag season, South Africa boasts 50 full-status Blue Flag beaches and 20 pilot sites, bringing the national total to 70 recognised beaches. In Overstrand, Grotto Beach in Hermanus and Kleinmond Beach have once again earned full Blue Flag status, while Hawston, Onrus, and Castle Beach (Pearly Beach) are recognised as Blue Flag Pilot beaches.
The Blue Flag programme, managed in South Africa by the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (Wessa), promotes sustainable coastal tourism through strict criteria covering water quality, environmental education, management and safety.
Beaches must reapply annually and maintain high standards to retain their status. Pilot beaches are still working towards full accreditation, but are already required to demonstrate progress in key areas such as water quality monitoring and public environmental awareness.
While pilot beaches are still working toward full accreditation, they must already demonstrate progress in key areas such as water quality testing and public environmental awareness.
Overstrand Executive Mayor Archie Klaas said: “The Blue Flag status is
a well-respected international award, ensuring each beach is not only beautiful and safe, but also environmentally friendly and socially responsible. Hence, Blue Flag beaches are highly sought after by tourists.”
He reminded residents that an amphibious wheelchair is available at Grotto and Kleinmond, allowing people with disabilities to enjoy the beach safely under the supervision of lifeguards.
He also commended CapeNature’s Walker Bay, which received Green Coast recognition for natural, less-developed coastal areas that balance biodiversity conservation with eco-tourism.
In Gansbaai, five eco-tourism boats operated by Marine Dynamics and White Shark Diving received Blue Flag Boat status, recognised for excellence in marine education, safety, and responsible tourism, contributing to sustainable marine experiences along the Overstrand coast.
The awards ceremony also highlighted Wessa’s Stop the Strangle campaign, which tackles marine pollution and discarded fishing gear, a major threat to marine life. Each year, an estimated 640 000 tons of fishing gear enter the oceans, posing long-term dangers to marine ecosystems.
The Blue Flag season will run from 1 December 2025 to mid-January 2026 for Kleinmond, Hawston, Onrus and Castle Beach, while Grotto Beach will have an extended season until Easter Weekend 2026.
“Dit is my grootworddorp, my huis en my hart.

Thursday 23 October saw the inauguration of a new project in Stanford, Day of Dreams. The brainchild of Sybille Essmann, Rotary Club of Stanford president, together with fellow Rotarian Truda Wepener, the club is delighted to share the success of this day, dedicated to inspiring Grade 7 learners from surrounding primary schools.
“This would originally have been called ‘Careers Day’,” Essmann pointed out, “but we took the advice of Anchelle Damon of Badisa and named the event Day of Dreams.”
The event took place in the Stanford Community Hall with around 100 Grade 7 learners attending.
Leading up to this special event the headmasters were consulted and they were fully on board to make the day a
success. It was important to engage with the learners and retain their interest so the advice from the principals was invaluable when it came to the format to be used.
“Furthermore, the Grootbos Foundation also provided insight into and advice on the format and offered Danver August and Natasha Bredekamp as MC and host.”
“So, with all that in mind, we used the format of a lively talk show, where learners had the opportunity to interact with a diverse group of artisans as they were interviewed on stage.
“Among these invited artisans were an electrician, a plumber, law-enforcement officer, firefighter, chef and an entrepreneur in the beauty industry, each sharing their career journeys, insights and experiences.”

of Skills in Napier as well as Boland College also attended, sharing very valuable insight with learners who are not academically strong. There are many avenues to choose from and the learners were able to interact with these institution representatives during a break.
“The purpose of Day of Dreams is to spark curiosity, broaden horisons, and encourage learners to start imagining the many career paths open to them. By engaging with these artisans from diverse fields, the young audience was able to ask questions and gain valuable first-hand knowledge in an interactive and fun setting.
“We are very excited to take this forward as an annual event,” Essmann concluded. “Our learners need all the help they can get and if we can make a difference in the lives of just a few, then we can call this initiative a success.”

A group of adult art-class students recently visited well-known Caledon artist Carol Mangiagalli.
Arina Myburgh, artist, owner and teacher of the Montage Art Studio, said:
“This visit was part of the enrichment programme for the adult students enrolled at my teaching studio. I mentor each of my students to develop a unique, authentic creative expression of their own. Visiting an artist such as Carol, who paints in the naïve style, and who has achieved great success as an artist, inspired the students even more to push past the borders of traditional realism.”
Carol opened up her studio and home, filled with her own as well as other artists’ work and related how her personal history shaped her artworks, which
started with cloth paintings and glass paintings, to her acrylic paintings that she has become so well-known for. She also shared her experience on building relationships with reputable galleries. The students who attend classes in Hermanus, Greyton, Kleinmond and Somerset West each received an autographed book of Mangiagalli’s art. Not only were they enriched by this visit, but they were also inspired to continue their art journey with renewed enthusiasm. Mangiagalli told Hermanus Times: “It was a good visit and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting them all and telling them my life story and sharing my art journey with them. They were very generous in that they supplied all the refreshments, and two ladies even insisted on washing the dishes afterwards. It was lovely to meet and make new artist friends.”

The aroma of fresh herbs and the vibrant colours of homegrown vegetables transformed retail aisles into community marketplaces this week as local gardeners stepped into the spotlight to showcase the fruits of their labour and the power of grassroots food security.
Shoppers were greeted by rows of fresh spinach, fragrant herbs and baskets of homegrown produce lining selected Shoprite and Checkers stores nationwide on Thursday 6 November. The displays marked the retailer’s annual Market Day, showcasing the harvests from more than 70 community food gardens, including four from the Western Cape, among them Our Garden and the Mthimkhulu Community Development Programme.
What began in 2017 as an undertaking to connect small-scale farmers with customers and enable communities to feed themselves in a sustainable way, has grown into a vibrant celebration of community resilience, food security and local entrepreneurship. Market Day gives local gardeners and co-operatives the chance to sell their produce directly to the public, gain retail experience and strengthen the roots of small businesses that feed their neighbourhoods, and this year was no different.
Blending skills, stories and sustainability, Market Day gave visitors the chance to meet the gardeners and learn about innovative, community-driven growing methods. Customers could stock up on onions, beetroot and cabbage, choose from fresh parsley, coriander and mint, and enjoy seasonal fruits like papayas, pineapples and watermelons. Some stalls offered moringa powder, peanuts and medicinal plants such as soap aloe, while others sold seedlings to encourage home gardening.
“Market Day is about building livelihoods from the ground up,” said Sanjeev Raghubir, Chief Sustainability Officer at the Shoprite Group. “It’s inspiring to see how each garden uses this opportunity to grow, not only in sales, but in confidence, connections, and long-term impact.”
According to the recently published South African Food Security Index 2025, food access and affordability remain among the country’s most pressing challenges. Community food gardens are helping to bridge that gap by feeding and uplifting communities, while fostering agricultural knowledge and sustainable livelihoods.
Local gardener Petrus Johannes Scheepers from Our Garden at Jesus in Action took part in his first Market Day

Mthimkhulu Community Development Programme in Kleinmond, Western Cape, showcased its homegrown produce on Market Day, joining gardens from across South Africa to highlight local initiatives that strengthen food security, support livelihoods and share sustainable farming practices.
at Shoprite Parow Park. Scheepers said it was deeply rewarding to see people buying their produce. “We put so much hard work into the garden as a team, so it’s an honour when people appreciate what we’ve grown. But it’s not just about selling vegetables. We also give food to those who simply can’t afford it. It’s become a cycle of giving the garden feeds us and we feed our community.”
Beyond Market Day, Shoprite continues to support community gardens through its Act For Change programme, which to date has assisted almost 300 gardens with training, seedlings and infrastructure. Many of the gardens are led by women and young people, improving access to fresh food while creating jobs and strengthening local food systems.
This year’s Market Day also coincided with the launch of the Act For Change Food Garden Competition, which will invest R1 million to help community gardens thrive. The competition recognises innovation, sustainability and social impact and the top six winners will receive tailored support based on their garden’s needs, from tools and infrastructure to training and resources. Entries close on 30 November.
“Every seed planted represents hope – for people, for communities and for a more sustainable future,” says Raghubir.
• How to enter the Act For Change Food Garden Competition: Be 18 years or older, represent a community-based food garden (private home garden, private companies and close corporations are not allowed to enter), include a short description of the garden’s history, purpose and community impact, and upload photos of the garden as part of the entry.

Adventure seekers and fitness enthusiasts can now register for the 2025 Paul Clüver off-road triathlon, promising a unique sporting experience amid the stunning Elgin vineyards.
The picturesque Paul Clüver Wine Estate will once again serve as the backdrop for one of the region’s most scenic sporting events when the annual off-road triathlon takes place on Sunday 7 December. Set against the dramatic landscape of the Groenlandberg mountain, this year’s event promises to deliver an unforgettable experience for athletes of all skill levels.
The triathlon offers two distinct race formats to accommodate varying fitness levels and experience. The X Tri Lite, designed for beginners and recreational athletes, features a 500 m swim, 12 km jeep track mountain bike ride, and 5 km off-road run. Participants must be 16 years or older for solo entries, or 14 years and older for team participation.
For seasoned athletes seeking a more demanding challenge, the X Tri Full presents a rigorous test with a 1 000 m swim, 27 km technical mountain bike course, and 10 km trail run. Solo participants must be at least 18 years old, while team members need to be 16 or older.
Recognising the importance of inclusive participation, organisers have ensured the event caters to families and younger participants. A 3 km nature walk

and shorter running events will be available for children and beginners who wish to experience the beautiful estate terrain without the intensity of the full triathlon format. What sets the Paul Clüver triathlon apart from traditional road-based events is its emphasis on natural terrain and scenic beauty.
Athletes will navigate through established vineyard paths and estate trails, offering spectacular mountain views and an immersive experience in one of South Africa’s premier wine regions. The combination of swimming, mountain biking on varied terrain and trail running creates a unique sporting challenge that tests different muscle groups and requires diverse athleticism.
register through the official website at www.wwxtri.co.za.
Given the event’s popularity and the limited capacity due to the natural venue constraints, early registration is recommended.
The event continues to grow in popularity among both local and visiting athletes, drawn by the combination of competitive sport and the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the Elgin wine region. The Paul Clüver off-road triathlon represents more than just a sporting event – it offers participants a chance to challenge themselves while experiencing the unique landscape that makes the Overberg a world-renowned destination for both wine and outdoor adventure.

Local gymnastics talent soared to new heights at the South African National Trampoline Championships, with Gym Genies Gymnastics of Hermanus delivering an outstanding performance that has put the Overberg region firmly on the national sporting map.
Nine of the club’s determined gymnasts made their mark at the prestigious championships held in Gqeberha from 7 to 10 October, the Double Mini Trampoline Gymnastics, one of nine disciplines officially recognised by Gymnastics South Africa.
But the success story doesn’t end there. In a remarkable achievement that underscores the quality of coaching in the region Gym Genies head coach
Karl Schneeberger has been selected to guide South Africa’s National Protea Trampoline Team at the FIG Trampoline World Championships in Pamplona, Spain. Schneeberger’s appointment to coach at the world championships, from 6 to 9 November, represents not only personal recognition, but a testament to the high-calibre training programmes developed right here in the Overberg. The local gymnastics community is celebrating both the national championship performance and Schneeberger’s international-coaching selection, with club officials expressing immense pride in his “tremendous contribution to the youth of the Overberg”.

• Sanlam-Boland-Top-12-uitslae: Wesbank 27-41; Delicious NW 28-59 Hillcrest United; Abbotsdale 34-76 Safcol United; Botrivier 33-37 Vredenburg Villagers; Worcester 57-5 Vanrhynsdorp Eagles; Robertson Town 46-27 Saldanhabaai.
