It also creates a space for the development of tourism offering visitors the opportunity to explore the region in a distinct way through its characteristic flavor. Support for local producers, awareness raising and promotion associated with the brand, possibility to develop new outlets, to get new contacts, cooperation etc. represent other benefits associated with the regional marking products. Taking into account the above mentioned, the introduction of regional brand can be a development opportunity for the region and the people living on the territory. Although such activities don´t have a long history in Slovak Republic, the validity of such support is being demonstrated in examples of existing successful regional product branding systems in such countries as Ireland, the UK, Italy and Austria for several decades. The purpose of the publication you are holding in your hands is to introduce the results of the initiative of Local Action Groups Regional Association Lower Nitra, Micro-region RADOŠINKA Civic Association, Civic Association for the Development of Požitavie - Širočina Micro-region and public-private partnerships Local Action Group Association of Municipalities of the Topoľčany-Duchonka Micro-region , Micro-region Cedron, Local Action Group Micro-region Tríbečsko, which inspired by positive examples from abroad, especially by the model of regional products branding in Czech Republic resulted in submission of two project plans within the framework of Rural Development Programme 2007-2013 cooperation projects: Introduction of regional branding of products in rural areas of Nitra - capacity building and Introduction of regional branding of products in rural areas – regional brand and the system of quality. This guide containing a brief description of the projects and documenting the process of their implementation proves the success of projects in the calls. However the success and longevity of the newly established regional brand „regional product Ponitrie“ however, will ultimately depend on ensuring the sustainability of the project and the acceptance of the brand between producers and consumers.
