Sophia Crawford’s lovely house and beautiful view provided a perfect venue for our fall opening meeting. After the summer hiatus, it was a treat to have the chance to catch up with so many women again. If you weren’t there, just know that we missed you. With summer behind us, the NWC is swinging into full gear. As usual, Karen Ward worked her magic in providing the library with a beautiful window display for the Nearly New Sale. I hope that all of you have collected your clothing for consignment and volunteered to work at least one shift. Did you know that we have around 250 volunteers helping to make the sale a success? I hope that you are one of them. Planning is well underway for the Spring Gala. One of the wonderful things about the Women’s Club is the “can and will do” attitude of so many of our members. Last week we had filled all the committee chair spots including some new members. But we didn’t have an overall chair. Recognizing the need, Sue Pitiger stepped up to the plate and said “Okay, I will do it!.” If you see Sue, say thank you. Cheryl Herrmann quickly agreed to take Sue’s place as the chair of the Norwich Citizen of the Year committee, PJ Stanwood willingly said “yes” to overseeing the catering, food and beverages, and Ledyard Bank has once again agreed to co-sponsor the event with us. We still have need for more volunteers; so just let us know that you want to help. March 15 will be upon us before we know it.
