SUMMER D ABOVE AND BEYOND The Y works to help youth discover their full potential by providing opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive admist caring, supportive adults. These experiences are grounded in a set of objectives that characterize all of the YMCA Summer Day Camp programs. Through the Y’s day camp program, kids participate in fun & educational activities that hep them with:

RELATIONSHIPS We facilitate relationships with and among youth, creating a space for them to make new friends and interact with supportive staff role models.

ACHIEVEMENT We provide thoughtful program activities to help youth gain knowledge, develop new skills, build confidence, and discover themselves.

YOUR CHILD IS IN GOOD HANDS Our staff aren’t just counselors, they’re mentors and most importantly - role models! We take pride in the quality & commitment of our staff, who are mostly teachers and college students. All staff participate in a comprehensive training program to prepare them to care for your child, plus they are certified in First Aid & CPR. TRADITIONAL CAMPS Traditional camps are ultra-spirited, funfilled camps with weekly themes that guide activities and trips for the week. Your camper will be traveling on special adventures throughout Fort Worth or simply having a great time on-site at the YMCA!

SPECIALTY UPGRADE Choose from a variety of specialty activities and options catered to your child’s growing interest and skills. With a variety of feebased options, you have the ability to personalize their camp experience! Some specialty upgrades include an additional field trip geared towards the camp’s focus.

A significant portion (60%) of the day is spent playing outside. Please make sure you apply sunscreen to your kids before dropping them off.

DAY CAMP FUN IS IN YOUR FUTURE

Weekly schedules are provided at the beginning of each session and families are encouraged to review them with their child. Our staff provides a wide variety of daily activities that are ageappropriate, recreational, enriching, and fun! We focus on education through STEM and reading, empowering creativity through art, and encourage physical activity with sports & swimming. Throughout, we instill the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Repect, and Responsibility. ARTS & CRAFTS During art time, children discover new skills & talents through art in a welcoming environment where they feel comfortable to express themselves.

READING Children will be encouraged to read and work towards school reading goals. Designated reading time will take place at each of our sites.

SPORTS Children will build confidence, discover their personal best, and develop sportsmanship while learning the fundamentals of sports.

CHARACTER COUNTS Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility, our YMCA Core Values, are all taught through group games and selfreflecting activities.

STEM Developing critical-thinking, learning how to fail, and working successfuly on a team are all traits we focus on in our STEM activities. Children will explore the wonderful world of science, technology, engineering, and math!

FIELD TRIPS Our campers love field trips! From local walks around the community, learning about different animals at the zoo and fun museum trips, we keep our campers enaged all summer. We coordinate trips with the weekly themes so campers experience what they’re learning simulatneously.

SUMMER D SAFE SWIMMERS CAMP SCHEDULE GO FOR GREEN SWIM LESSONS Any YMCA day camp participant will also receive a swim test at their first pool visit. If a camper doesn’t initially pass the swim test we offer lessons during their day camp week to help them pass the swim test and earn a green bracelet.* We call this Going for Green! *Go for Green swim lesson offerings vary by branch. Please contact your camp director or branch for more information.

Campers will be exposed to recreational skill-building and fun games in basketball, baseball, soccer, flag football, swimming and more. Counselors will focus on sportsmanship and encourage all campers to try new sports. Become a well-rounded athlete!

We have engineered a whole new kind camp with activities focused on understanding the process of building. From having a concept to designing and then constructing (with some trail and error) will have campers walk away with a new appreciation for the world built around them.

Kids create through a variety of projects such as: clay sculpture, sketching, watercolors or paints, nature collages, paper mâché, picture frames, necklaces, bracelets, and so much more. Campers learn the skills to be confident when they’re babysitting and equipped in the event of an emergency. Camp covers infant/child and adult CPR, basic First Aid, game playing, and hints on how to find a job. After they learn about behavior management and safety-focused supervision, they’ll create their own business cards and walk way the best babysitter on the block!

A test of skill and agility. See if you can scale walls, jump over obstacles, and run a strength-testing obstacle course in Extreme Ninjas camp! We will spend each day trying new events and obstacles. Field trips will also be part of the fun! At the end of the week, campers will show off their new skills for family and friends.

Do you love choreography? Moving your body to the beat? In this camp we will go through a variety of different styles of dance to allow campers to be creative through motion. From step, to country line dancing, campers will leave tired with a smile on their face.

Ever wondered how people on those wilderness TV shows, last in the jungle for weeks at a time? This is your chance to learn how to do that, with all of the fun of being able to go home at the end of the day. From orienteering, to fire building, campers will learn all the skills necessary to survive in the woods! Are you up for the challenge?

This upgrade is a great place for campers to learn soccer and basketball for the first time or to sharpen their skills. Camp staff will emphasize skill building through drills, group games, scrimmages, and team work. We want your camper to leave feeling inspired to run towards their goals!

Join us on a wacky adventure through all kinds of cool and crazy chemical reactions. Use chemicals to make slippery slime and watch colors separate before your eyes! Find out how to make volcanoes erupt, what oobleck is, how to make gak and more! Add in messy games and activities, creating a slimy, grimy, goopy and magical experience.

SUMMER D FREQUENTY ASKED QUESTIONS WHAT SHOULD MY CAMPER BRING TO CAMP?

First, please label everything your child brings to camp. Here are a few camp necessities: Lunch, water bottle (disposable or re-useable), backpack, swimsuit, towel (designated day), sunscreen, hat, tennis shoes, and comfy clothes they can get dirty.

WHAT DO I DO WHEN I FIRST ARRIVE TO CAMP?

Camp opens at 7:00am however; you may drop off your camper between 7am-9am. Camp will be in Pre-Camp mode which means all the kids will be together in the gym participating in self-guided centers/games until it is time to break into their age appropriate groups. Parents are required to sign their camper in and out of the program each day. Campers will place their belongings in a basket under their group’s name.

DOES THE Y PROVIDE SNACKS?

Yes, we provide both a morning and afternoon snack. Morning snack is at 8:30am and afternoon snack is at 3:30pm. Please be sure to list any food allergies on your camper’s enrollment form. Snack menus will be available each month.

WHAT SHOULD I PACK FOR MY CAMPER’S LUNCH?

Campers will eat lunch each day between 11am to 12pm after washing their hands. Campers will eat at designated tables in cafeteria, during Friday campers will eat outdoors at our picnic tables. Please do not send your child with items that require a microwave or refrigeration. Lunches will be inside buildings both at school and during Friday’s outdoor camp until it is time to eat. Reminders; if your child has any allergies, list them on the enrollment paperwork.

HOW CAN I SEE ALL THE FUN ACTIVITIES AT CAMP?

We will use Bloomz to communicate all our participants during the summer. An email will be sent out once you register to opt into the free Bloomz app. Please follow us on Facebook as well as Instagram. We will also have a weekly newsletter available at camp each week.

DOES THE YMCA OFFER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR CAMP?

YES! At the YMCA, our goal is to ensure that no one is turned away from the YMCA due to their financial situation. The YMCA offers financial assistance to those who qualify. Applications are available at our YMCA branch and must be completed 7-10 days in advance of registration. Please ask our staff for more details or visit our website for the scholarship application!

All campers must wear their current year’s Day Camp t-shirt (provided) on field trip day Unless requested from the Y, do not allow your child to bring additional money on field trips All campers must arrive by 8:30am on field trip days to assure campers are accounted for and loaded on the bus properly In order to ensure camper safety, we do not allow campers to be picked up or dropped off at field trips. This also applies to Parent volunteers. Pack light during field trips unless otherwise requested Bring a lunch. All field trips require a sack lunch unless stated otherwise.


SUMMER D PAYMENT & CANCELLATION PAYMENT REGISTRATION FEE: All participants are required to pay a one-time $60 non-refundable camp registration fee. Discounts/Scholarship may not be applied to this fee. WEEKLY FEES & DEPOSITS: YMCA Member Rate- $125/per week Non-Member Rate- $150/per week In order to reserve your place in camp you must register in advance and enroll in an automatic draft. Full weekly payments are due the Saturday prior to the start of each week of camp. All payments for camp must be set up on a weekly or monthly (1st of the month) draft.

CANCELLATION POLICY Cancellations must be requested two weeks prior to the start of the week of care. The Cancellation Request Form is available on our website to access at any time. This is the only way cancellations are accepted. If your cancellation request is not made two weeks in advance of your draft date you will be drafted, charged a $30 Cancellation Fee and are not eligible for a refund regardless of your child’s attendance.
