More Fun! More Laughs, at MORE THAN JUST A MINI PUTT! May 18th is Free Mini Putt Day at Aly’s! By Sherry Hanes Pack up the kiddies, wives, husbands, parents, grandparents, teenagers and your good neighbours, and head out for Opening Day at Aly’s Mini Putt and Fun Centre, located at 400 Lyon Boulevard, Boulevard Lake, Thunder Bay, Ontario on May 18th, where Mini Putt is FREE, aaaaaaaall day long to celebrate 50 Years! The golfing and fun centre, named after Kevin’s daughter, Alyssa Hope Johnson, will remain open spring, summer and fall. The place where the fun never ends! Well. Not until you have to go home that is! Kevin Johnson, owner of the totally franchised and newly branded operation, is very excited about the entire business adventure. The reason he got into the mini putt and fun centre was because he really wants to get families back out together, doing things, in Thunder Bay. Very affordable, Kevin is happy to say, the 2018 price point is ONLY $5.00 and that includes the tax. That price has remained unchanged from the 2017 operating season. Kevin has made a huge $40,000.00 renovation investment for improvements to the mini putt golf course and fun centre, that includes, a beautiful, brand new course, resurfacing of all the greens and has all brand, new themes. This is the first time in fifty years that this site has ever had a renovation. The site is so well maintained with keeping the greens vacuumed twice daily that, seasoned golfers come here to practice their putting, prior to going on the large courses. The centre also has the addition of a complete, super-awesome, surround sound and a 70-inch T.V. screen for featuring music videos. There is also a Kio Fishing Pond. The mystical fish are theoretically known to bring you good

luck, along with a few other good benefits. Also available, at the 19th Hole, are simple concessions, such as chips, nachos, soft drinks and Slush Puppies. Picnic tables with umbrellas will be strategically placed, so that you may sit at and enjoy your snacks or just for relaxing. Sponsors are also excited to have the opportunity to showcase their businesses featuring their name and business on one of the holes along the course. Also, new in 2018, for your extended enjoyment and activity, Kevin has purchased four hundred dollars-worth of the sporting equipment. If patrons want to use them for FREE, all they have to do is present valid I.D. (identification). It is just that simple. The sporting goods include badminton and tennis rackets, soccer balls, foot balls, pogo sticks, frizz-bees and many other outdoor activity related items. This will be offered starting in June, 2018. Mountain bikes will also be available for renting this summer, if you would like to take a little spin. Also, you can challenge your friends or family members to a friendly game of pool or foosball, free with your admission, on the newest addition of these tables that Kevin has purchased for more enjoyable entertainment. July 2018. The 50th Anniversary Celebration: Every year Kevin believes in giving back to the community, and this year, the celebration with also be a fund raiser for The Alyssa Hope Foundation. The fund raiser is a scholarship that is set up each year and is then given away on Alyssa’s behalf. In 2017, Kevin also held a fund raiser for a homeless family through Habitat for Humanity, as they were building the family a home. Kevin, after visiting the site, was inspired and held the fundraiser in support for the project. The mini putt and fun centre has been around for 50 years now and Kevin is planning a humongous party and fund raiser in July for the big event. There will be live music with some notable entertainers, approxi-

mately 70 automobiles will be displaying their vintage and muscle for the 50th Celebration Car Show, face painting for everyone, jugglers, balloon twisting, fiftycent mini putt for the entire day, Vendors Market and of course Bouncy Castles and the list goes on! The exact date will be announced shortly on Aly’s Mini Putt Facebook Page. Kevin would like everyone to come out and have one of the best times ever! And … Oh yes! You can win a punch card for 5 FREE rounds of golf when you LIKE and SHARE on the ad on the Facebook page. Last year Kevin awarded 570 free rounds of golf to those who got in on this incredible offer. Just go to the Facebook Page and click to win. Here is just one example of a very satisfied family who, just couldn’t say enough about the Centre: September 20, 2017 Dawn Cote: “Had a great time at Aly's! Kids had a blast playing mini putt and looking at all the different decorations! I enjoyed that we could do something as a family that a 7, 5, and 3 year old could all have fun and participate in! And the music was awesome! My 7 yr old must have asked 3 times if it was my 'favourite song' (I knew the words!!;p) My 5 month old was happy just to sit and take in all the different colours and sounds! (And there was more than enough room to manoeuvre a stroller through the course!) Staff was super helpful and friendly and took the time to have a word with everyone! We will definitely be back to Alys! Thank You for such an awesome experience, we'll be seeing you again soon!!” And speaking of the great times, spring and summer brings… how about Halloween? Halloween always brings out the ‘ghoulish’ side of Mr. Johnson (TeeHee!) and he loves to entertain his guests with Halloween themed nights. That is when the entire site is turned into a Haunted Golf Course. Features, such as, laser golf with haunted holes, ghostly

music and fogging to set the mood and Michael Myers Night, which was reportedly … gastly (last year), drew a crowd of more than 300 patrons who participated in the haunted events, Also, featured, was the famed Death Battle, between Jason and Michael Myers. Apparently… the month of Halloween Haunted Holes 2017, was a SCREAM!! Another is planned for Halloween 2018! AUHHHHH ….. HA HA HA HA! From spring until fall, events, such as birthday parties, benefit events, office fun day, year-end school parties and events, sports-team parties, social groups (women vs. men for example, guys against the girls … Hmmmmmph?) All are welcome and you will have more fun when you host your event at Aly’s Mini Putt and Fun Centre. Call early to plan your special event. Gift certificates are always available for anyone looking to purchase something a little different when it comes to Fun Gifting for the family or any or all of your friends. Just drop by Aly’s Mini Putt and Fun Centre located at 400 Lyon Boulevard, Boulevard Lake, Thunder Bay, Ontario, for the best family fun or call 807-630-9256 and speak to the very friendly and helpful staff, for hours of operation, special events, gift purchases and anything else to promote your fun. They will be only too glad to hear from you! So! The next time someone asks what you are planning on doing next week, just say ‘Oh! I don’t know. I thought I might just take the family and go putt around!’ Thank you, Kevin for all the fun you create for everyone and giving back to the community!

Starting this fall, the popular Renegade and Grand Touring snowmobiles, along with some Expedition models, will also be available with the ACE engines in the REV Gen4 layout. with just under 500 participants from across Canada as well as a few teams from Minnesota and Wisconsin. These championships were held here before in 2015 and 2006. The event runs Saturday to Saturday with two training days before hand so the athletes are here for 10 days. It is a good economic impact for Thunder Bay with all the participants

as well as coaches, parents and siblings. There are many volunteers including race office staff, providing bibs, timing, parking lot and those on the course as well as banquet event.

“ We plan for a year in advance for this week. We have a variety of races each day such as- team sprint relay club event of 4 laps of 1.5 or 1.2 km per lap. On Sunday a classic interval start leaving in 15 second intervals was held, pursuit race based on previous results, individual sprints with time trials and advance to further races.” noted Stephanie. “ The age group of 14 to early 20’s is mostly here with some older 20’s athletes doing well and some local master skiers say in their 50’s.”

The Lappe Nordic Ski Centre is where the club operates from with programs for age 4 years and up for families and Master. Reijo Puiras was an Olympic skier and formed the Lappe Ski Centre. “ Todays race we have an athlete who competed in the Olympics. Cross country skiing is a great sport for everyone!”

Tucker Hibbert claims 11th Pro National Snocross Championship title Tucker Hibbert closed out one of the most successful seasons of his career and took claim to his 11th Professional Snocross Championship at the ISOC National Snocross season finale in Lake

Geneva, Wisc.

Overall thoughts on the season and winning the championship:

In his 18th professional snocross season, Hibbert had a remarkable run winning 11 of the 17 finals and 27 of his 34 qualifying races. With yearend championship points awarded in both qualifying rounds and finals, he set his season focus on winning every time he was on the track. It was a smart and successful strategy as he secured the championship early with a 108-point margin over second place.

“I felt the best I have my whole career this season – fast and consistent with a rock-solid sled. We (the team) achieved our goal of winning the championship and I couldn’t be happier about that. I’m really proud of how hard everyone on the team and everyone who supports us worked this past year. What people see at the track is a tiny window into what goes into making a program successful. I’m thankful for the passion and dedication that was put into this championship and will always hold this one close.”

Hibbert and his team were honored with two special awards at the yearend banquet. His father and crew chief, Kirk Hibbert, was awarded Mechanic of the Year while Tucker tallied the most votes by snocross fans to take home Fan Favorite Rider. With another snocross season behind him, the multisport athlete will shift his focus to his summer passions – motocross and cross-country mountain bike racing. good racing.” “Racing at Lake Geneva this year was definitely a rollercoaster for me. I felt like I was riding better than I ever have and had really good speed. Some mistakes, especially the last two days, put a damper on my overall results.”

Tucker Hibbert, 33, entered his first race at the age of eight and today stands as the most decorated snowmobile snocross racer in history. He’s a two-time FIM World Snowcross champion, 14-time X Games medalist and 11-time national snocross champion. Since he turned pro in 2000, he’s won 138 of the 235 Pro National events he’s entered. My Snowmobile Trip To The Eastern Townships Region of Quebec: Valcourt and Lac Megantic! BY SCOTT A. SUMNER

Great Outdoors Many people dream of getting away in February to a warmer climate to spend some time on the beach and relax. Personally I enjoy the winter season and this year was fortunate to visit the Eastern Townships area of Quebec to ride and see snowmobiles from February 9th to 14th!

One of the main reasons for the trip would be to attend the 2018 Grand Prix Valcourt, the 36th edition where 30,000 visitors attend over the weekend. 500 will ride to the event on snowmobile. In addition I would have the opportunity to ride snowmobiles for two days in the Lac Megantic area.

My journey began with two Porter flights to Toronto and Montreal. I like that the flights are direct, meaning you stay on the plane at the Toronto Island Airport. This speeds up the process for sure. After leaving at 9am and arriving at Montreal before 1 pm it was off to Discount Rent A Car to begin the under 2 hour drive to the Eastern Townships.

“ We have many trails here and Valcourt is the cradle of snowmobiling, where Mr Bombardier invented the first snowmobile which was like a car before the snowmobile we know today.” said Danie. “ We have a good circuit of trails that are linked to the Quebec main trails. There are a variety of trails that are well maintained by the club. In Lac Megantic there are some elevations that make it a pretty setting.”

It was fun staying at the Auberge 4 Saisons Hotel which was quite luxurious. Auberge 4 Saisons is a 10 years old property that was enlarged two years ago from 28 to 82 rooms. It has an indoor outdoor pool, spa and a good restaurant that we enjoyed that night - Bistro 4 Saisons.

Most of us are familiar with Lac Megantic as the area was in the news so prominently. In 2013 the Lac Megantic rail accident occurred where 47 people died. There was not enough brakes that were put on the train and it started moving and gained speed down the hill and in Lac Megantic there is a curve and the train missed the curve.

Danie Beliveau is the Media Relations person for Tourism Eastern Townships. “ We are a pretty big area situated just north of the border with Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine for an area of 12,000 square kilometers from Lake Champlain to Lac Megantic. We are sitting on the border. Newport, Vermont is the closest city.”

largest lit ski resort in North America. Over half of their 120 plus slopes are lit at night so it is very popular with night skiing. “ We have many Montrealers visit each year, some for the day with skiing, golfing, fishing etc. We are the fourth largest visited area after Montreal, Quebec and the Laurentians.” said Danie.

Lac Megantic is recovering and starting to rebuild and will change the way it is done. They want to develop some attractions near the lake. There is a plan to build a hotel and a small convention centre.

“ We are doing well and are growing. Last year the economy from visitors was $875 million and we had 9 million visitors.”

In addition there are 4 major ski resorts and 2 smaller ones in the Eastern Townships. One is lit at night- Bromont. It is in fact the

You can visit for more information with different activities listed including spa, food and wine. There is

a blog that tells what is happening each weekend. As an avid snowmobiler I was really looking forward to visiting the Museum of Ingenuity J Armand Bombardier, some 40 minutes away from the hotel. “ It reopened in May 2016 after extensive

renovations. Previously the display was mostly about Ski Doo and snowmobiling as a guided tour. Now it is more about the whole history of the company beginning with the life of Mr. Bombardier and then about the overall company. We get 30,000 visitors per year.” said Alexander Hince, Head of Education. “ Many people will start with the 15 minute theatre presentation with moving objects about Mr Bombardier in the original garage and then see the 15 minutes video over all evolution of the company.” During your visit you can see the original Ski Doo that made it to the North Pole, the B12, Metro Streetcars, Spyder, the Flex series and the new C Series jet simulator with fly by wire, the same units that pilots use to train. There are many interactive displays including a fab lab where you can build something in 3 D eg. you could build a guitar or print something for a tee shirt . “ We want people to interact with the museum. There is an glassed area where you can see many reserve vehicles as well.” said Alexander. The costs to visit the museum are: Adult $12, Family $30 There are manufacturing plant tours Tuesday to Thursday with guides that cost $17 including the museum access at 10:30 am or 1:30 am for 14 ages or over with a maximum of 10 people with up to 3 or 4 groups daily. During my tour of the BRP plant the Spyder product was being made. In May it changes to Ski Doo. The other BRP products of ATV and Sea Doo are made in Mexico plants. The level of technology including robotic welders was impressive to see. I was not allowed to take pictures in the plant but I think you would enjoy seeing the process of manufacture over a 1:15 minute time period. Next up for me would be attending the multitude of races at the the Grand Prix Valcourt which is 36 years old now and a NON Profit organization run by 16 member directors.

My Snowmobile Trip To The Eastern Townships Region of Quebec: Valcourt and Lac Megantic! Continued “ It began mostly as a snowmobilers meet up with the first edition a blend of drag races and ice alone but not on oval. It grew quickly because it’s Ski Doo home town and being the biggest event many years ago for snowmobilers.” said Jean Collard, Social Media Press Room Manager “ Today it is a very unique race weekend with 9 different disciplines including Moto and ATV on ice oval and also inside the ice raceway, snocross. New this year is Snow Bike where some of our previous snocross racers came back to try Snow Bike. We have 1 kilometers of displays for family as well as rock concerts, drag races, fireworks and free entrance to the race paddock. We have a small ATV ride and slides for kids. Most of the people come from an area of 200 km around here. We have fans that phone in September to save their seats.” “ Ski Doo is our main sponsor and help financially. There are many other sponsors

good diversity of trails through fields, at elevation and some tree lined. We were 10 kms from Maine where the US riders you can cross the border and obtain the trail pass. The trails were in excellent condition with good levels of snow. It was fun to have 6 people ride with us, stopping for lunch and seeing the beautiful country side. The people here were so friendly and passionate about snowmobiling. The food in Quebec was amazing everywhere I went. It is so much fun riding snowmobiles here!

site of the Lac Megantic rail disaster. The area is being rebuilt and coming along very nicely. The people of Lac Megantic seem to be doing very well now. My trip to the Eastern Townships would be coming to an end and it was off to Montreal with a 3 hour drive to the airport for the trip home. Special thanks to Danie, Bruno, Sarah, Collette and Myrtle for their help on this adventure.

After our ride Bruno gave me a tour of the spot to help pay for the groomer costs etc. They also have a new bridge which cost $300,000 to replace the old one with funds coming from Canada, Quebec and the club. There are two John Deere tractor groomers and the operators are volunteers. The trails are groomed once per week and it takes 80 hours a week for both of the groomers said Bruno Giguere who is a Director of Lac Megantic Snowmobile Club.

The snow came late to the region this year but normally there is good riding from Dec 15th to March 31st. We rode the Lac Megantic trails for two days putting on over 300 km. There is a

as well including INTACT Insurance. The track is on BRP land. It is a good way to promote Ski Doo and have a big event for the area. We have some people who work full time almost all year and 16 members of the Board of Directors who look after different areas such as food service, paddock, race schedules and the family section. There are 250 to 300 volunteers this weekend and before,” said Sarah- Maude Boucher,Business Development Manager and a former Canadian National Team skier! I really enjoyed the Grand Prix Valcourt, viewing some races, talking to some snocross teams I meet each year at Duluth, listening to some rock music and seeing so many snowmobile displays! My next stop would be Lac Megantic, about 2 hours a way by car. The first stop was to Summun Experience Location to meet my guide Bruno and get on the 2018 Ski Doo Grand Touring 900 ACE sled. “ It is our first year of renting sleds in the Lac Megantic area with 3 Grand Touring and 1 Renegade with more coming next year. The operation is owned by the local Ski Doo dealership, Performance NC.” said Pierre Marc Poulin Manager of Rental.

The Lac Megantic Club was started in 1968 and currently has 160 kms of trail. They have 225 Trail Pass holders. The permit cost is $315 before Dec 9th, after that $385. If caught on the trail without a permit there is a $580 fine taken on the

GEORGE THOROGOOD AND THE DESTROYERS ROCK PARTY TOUR ! By Sherry Hanes From solo, acoustic, performer from Wilmington, Delaware, to international, iconic Blues/Rock sensation, George Thorogood and The Destroyers will rock you like never before! Appearing at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium, May 1, 2018, … tickets are going fast! Celebrating 44 years of performing, rigorous touring, and recording, the world famed group will be delivering their signature style sound, Chicago Blues and Rock and Roll, personally to you, on their 2018, ‘ROCK PARTY TOUR’. With more than 20 albums to their musical credit, two certified Platinum and six certified Gold, George Thorogood and The Destroyers IS the ‘Rock Party’! Selling more than 15 million albums worldwide, and popularizing songs like, ‘Who Do You Love’ and ‘Move It On Over’, along with "House Rent Boogie/One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer", the mesmerizing 5, will be an event you will not want to miss. Let me introduce the band to you. Original Destroyer since 1973 and outrageous drummer, Jeff Simon. Slappin’ Bass with the band since 1976, Mr. Bill (The Doctor) Blough. On rhythm guitar and with the band since 1999, Mr. Jim Suhler. Mr. Buddy Leach on saxophone and with the band since 2003. And finally, the sensational, mind-blowing man himself, George Thorogood of George Thorogood and The Destroyers.

Since the early ‘70’s, performing solo, acoustic, George Thorogood, singer, songwriter, musician, was inspired by John P. Hammond Jr., an American singer and musician and also Elmore James, American blues guitarist, singer, songwriter and bandleader, who was known as "King of the Slide Guitar". Dedicated to his music, Thorogood and The Destroyers’ major recording debut came in 1976. The album was named ‘George Thorogood and The Destroyers’ and was released in 1977. His next album was ‘Move It On Over’ and was released in 1978. Thorogood's demo, ‘Better Than the Rest’, was recorded in 1974, but was not released until 1979. After opening for such amazing artists as Muddy Waters, and Howlin’ Wolf, and others, George knew that he and his band could make it. History in the making was now on a roll. Supporting act for opening on the Rolling Stones’ historic ’81 tour, was his first ‘mainstream’ exposure and with their appearance on SNL, October 2, 1982, including, around the same time, performing in their own rigorous, record-breaking 50/50 tour, when they performed in 50 states in 50 days, was catapulting George and his group into the fast lane to stardom. Absurdly enough, none of the major labels ever picked them up. Let it be known that the group actually played Washington D.C. and Maryland in the same day, so they really performed 51 times in the 50 days. Now that’s legendary! Even if you have never heard of or seen George Thorogood and The Destroyers, you will never, ever forget their sound and you will feel like you can’t get enough of them. And with all their touring, it would be safe to say, they can’t get enough of you either.

The ‘60’s was a great time for music! It was when the Beatles first performed on the Ed Sullivan Show and The Rolling Stones were hitting the charts …. the teenagers were hitting the basements and garages starting up their own bands. And who didn’t want to be a ‘rock’ sensation? That was the electrifying beginning of George’s career. Mastering and perfecting his passion in his

music, George made himself the man, the star, he is today! Interestingly enough, at the time when rock and roll bands were starting up, George did not know how to play guitar…which most won’t believe but, it is true. He loved music and knew a lot of songs word for word, so when a group in his neighbourhood needed a singer, George, at the age of 15, was the guy to give it a try. Their first gig was performing for his twin sisters’ birthday party, for which he received $20.00. That day changed his life forever! He was now a professional rock performer. In his early 20’s, George and drummer Jeff Simon (his high-school friend) and a second guitarist set out in Chevy van and headed North to Boston, where all the action was. With some pretty respectable bookings by a great agent, the Delaware Valley and throughout New England were getting their first taste of the George Thorogood ‘BAD’ playing style. Then one night while playing in Boston, a guy saw them and he knew someone at a folk label called ‘Rounders Records. According to George, even though he had never heard of this record label, it was his last shot. The journey now gets a little more exciting! Rounder’s earliest success was realized with George Thorogood and The Destroyers’ album release ‘Move It On Over’ in 1978, selling a half million copies. Record labels for studio albums and live albums over the years are Rounders, EMI, EMI Music Distribution, EMI Catalogue, MCA, Universal Special Products, Capitol, Eagle, Eagle Records, CMC International, Special Product/Direct Source, and Recall Records. Songs that rocked the sound waves since George Thorogood and the Destroyers debuted are, ‘Who Do You Love’, ‘Move It On Over’, ‘Cocaine Blues’, ‘I Drink Alone’, and the ever famous, not to mention timeless, ‘Bad To The Bone’! In 2012, Thorogood was named one of the "50 Most Influential Delawareans of the Past 50 Years. One can read all about George Thorogood and the Destroyers on just about any search engine or listen to his music on just about any medium but, that will never give you the true experience your soul not only desires but needs, hearing his live performance. It is not just to say that the orchestration and the raw energy of his music brings out your primal evocations, it is also to say that it will forever remain residual with you. It will be forever in your music soul. Record Store Day, April 21, 2018, George Thorogood & the Destroyers are releasing a limited-edition 7" single, featuring two new recordings. The A-side features a cover of "Shot Down," originally recorded by legendary garage rockers The Sonics, backed with "Ain't Coming Home Tonight," an all new original penned by longtime Destroyers

guitarist Jim Suhler and legendary producer Terry Manning (Al Green, Joe Walsh, Widespread Panic), with Grammy-winning producer Jim Gaines mixing the track. A download card will be includ ed with each purchase. The 7" single was engineered and produced by Shawn Berman, whose engineering credits range from Ice Cube to Guns N' Roses.

Berman has engineered five George Thorogood & the Destroyers albums and Thorogood's 2017 solo release Party Of One A limited run of 1,650 copies of the single will be pressed on clear red vinyl and hand numbered by Third Man Pressing for Record Store Day, which will be celebrated at independent record stores throughout the United States and Canada on Saturday, April 21, 2018. ‘Party of One’ was released on August 4, 2017. This was Thorogood's first-ever solo album and was his fastest-selling album in nearly 20 years and features acoustic interpretations of 14 of his favorite songs by artists such as Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, Elmore James, the Rolling Stones, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and Bob Dylan. In a personal interview with Mr. Thorogood, George imparts to me, that he always knew he would become a great rock star, that his passion was always in it. George’s best advice that he could give to any up-coming artist or for anyone in the business is to, “Play for fun! Always play for fun!” Continuing on, I asked, “What is your most favourite song you had ever written?” His assured quick response was, “All of them.” “What do you prefer in sound production for recording, mono or stereo?” “I record in whatever the producer suggests at the time.” As far as how old George was when he first started playing guitar, George states, “I actually didn’t start playing guitar until I was about twenty-one, but I had dabbled in it off and on through the years before that, when I was younger, in my teens.” In his down time, when George is not performing/touring, he is a very private individual, likes to ‘mind his own business’, but on stage, he shares his music with everyone! When asked about the internet, and whether it has benefit or hindrance for his music when it comes to sales, George claims that “That it is a ‘loss – gain’ balance. Where it is a hinderance in some ways, it is a benefit in others because, people can see where you are playing.” George also shares his sentiments about the fact that he likes a bit of mystery in the world and that with everything being available on the internet nowadays, it removes that element. I totally concur with Mr. Thorogood as I am sure, many of us do. I gratefully thanked Mr. Thorogood for his time he so willingly shared and assured him that we, his fans, cannot wait to see him and the destroyers! If you have tickets to go see George Thorogood and The Destroyers, follow the advice of Mr. Thorogood and ‘BRING YOUR SEAT BELT’! You’re going to need it!

YAMAHA GOES ‘HEADS UP’ FOR 2019 WITH RELEASE OF SIDEWINDER SRX LE Return of SRX, 5 LE Spring-Only Models, And Electric Start Snoscoot Highlight Enhanced 2019 Line-Up Yamaha has rocketed off the line into 2019 with the release of the all-new

approach we and our competitors have traditionally adopted - is spend your way out by attaching big rebates and minuscule finance rates to carry over inventory. This will sell some snowmobiles, but it devalues the current year models and affects our relationship with our loyal Spring deposit customers. It becomes a race to the bottom, and that is not healthy for the industry. Customers don’t want to buy current year units if those units will lose much of their value the following year because of rebates.” Smallman-Tew explained further, “For 2019, we’ve made a tough decision to limit our 2019 production to key, high volume snowmobiles and place even more emphasis on our Spring Power Surge early deposit program. These measures will help to reduce dealer inventory and maintain greater value and demand for Yamaha snowmobiles. Our dealers, and most importantly our customers, will enjoy a healthier relationship with our brand.”

Sidewinder SRX LE, a snowmobile engineered for top speed fanatics who want the fastest production snowmobile ever built. Customers keen to get their hands on a 2019 Yamaha snowmobile will want to ensure they place a deposit in the spring, as some 2019 models like Sidewinder BTX and Sidewinder M-TX will only be available in the spring. On the topic of spring deposits, Yamaha’s Spring Power Surge program will be even more exciting for 2019. Apart from the usual incentives like accessory credits, extended warranty, and attractive finance rates, Yamaha intends to reward those customers who place a deposit and register a 2019 unit. Each customer will be entered into the SPS Sweepstakes, where they can win 1 of over 100 Yamaha prizes, including Pressure Washers and Generators. Not only that, but three ‘Win Your Purchase’ prizes are available to be won for customers who place a spring deposit. More

information can be found here for the Canadian program and here for the US. Yamaha is building off a strong 2018 and has boldly stepped into 2019 with the new Sidewinder SRX, an enhanced line-up and aggressive new Spring Power Surge sales program. The time to Conquer Snow is

The Snoscoot returns for 2019 with the addition of standard electric start, a flashy, new Orange colour scheme and more accessories than ever before. The Snoscoot was an instant fan favorite after its debut last year and these enhancements are sure to keep the Snoscoot in high demand. What’s new at Yamaha is exciting, but what is not returning is big news too. 2019 sees a number of units removed from the Yamaha line to address an inventory imbalance in the market place. Yamaha Snowmobiles North American Team Leader Peter Smallman-Tew explains, “We want our dealers to have long-term, stable profitability. We can’t control snow, but we can ensure they are selling profitable, current model year snowmobiles. Right now, dealers have too many carry over models, so we need to correct that. One way to do this – an
