Dear Church Family,
Camp Meeting 2009
Love and Loving
I just got home from camp meeting a few days ago and I hit the ground running. There is always much to do when you get back into town after being gone for a while. One thing that I am working on is a period of fasting and prayer for the North Valley church. Our next communion service is scheduled for the last week in August and I am planning a fast that will culminate in partaking of the Lord’s supper on the last Sabbath in August. Another thing that we are working on is small groups. I made a presentation to the church board a short time ago and they voted to select a group of people to study the idea and then return the following month with a report. Small groups will officially launch in September but not before we do a training session with those who will be leading out. Finally, we are looking at possibly holding an evangelistic meeting this fall at the North Valley church. Please pray about these events, asking that God’s will be done. Christ is coming soon and now is the time to be about our Father’s business. I want to encourage you to invite your friends and family to church when you have the opportunity and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear. (I Peter 3:15)
A Fellow Disciple, Pastor Mike

Love and Loving: John's Epistles From July through September of 2009 Church members will be studying the epistles of the Apostle John. John was the writer of Gospel of John. For over twenty years the Sabbath School lessons have contained book or books of the Bible for study. The authors of the lessons write a book to go with them. These can be purchased for about $10.00 from Book & Bible House or ordered by the Personal Ministries department of the church. The lessons this quarter will include ! John, 2nd John, and 3rd John. The Gospel of John is one of the favorite books of the Bible. His epistles follow the same style. Many of our North Valley member are missing the blessings of the adult lessons. There are three classes studying these lessons. There is another class. This is for new members and those interested in the Bible teachings of the church. Sabbath School begins at 9:25 a. m. with a song service. The Sabbath School follows with mission emphasis. The first Sabbath of the month has a mission story DVD entitled, " Mission Sonlight". At 10:50 a. m. the lesson study begins. The class ends at 10:42 a.m. On the thirteen Sabbath of the quarter, the children's departments presents a program at 10:20 a,m. See you in Sabbath School.

Old Farmer's Advice: * Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong. * Keep skunks and bankers and lawyers at a distance. * Life is simpler when you plow around the stump. * A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor. * Words that soak into your ears are whispered...not yelled. * Meanness don't jes' happen overnight. * Forgive your enemies. It messes up their heads. * Do not corner something that y ou know is meaner than you. * It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge. * You cannot unsay a cruel word. * Every path has a few puddles. * When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty. * The best sermons are lived, not preached. * Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway. * Don't judge folks by their relatives. * Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer. * Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time. * Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't botherin' you none. * Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance. * If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'. * Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got. * The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin'. * Always drink upstream from the herd. * Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment. * Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in. * If you get to thin kin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around. * Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God. AND AMEN!
