Among our 12 international students is Dom, a firstyear senior from China. He answered a few questions about his experience so far. What made you decide to attend Northland? First of all, because it’s a Christian school, students and teachers have good person alities. I can get more attention from each teacher because it is a small school. What do you like most about being here? The people are really kind and friendly. They will always help me if I have problems. What is your impression of Christian education? In Introduction to Christianity, I get to study and learn more about the Bible. That class makes me closer to God. Dom’s eagerness to learn more about our faith is a testament to God’s grace and the Holy Spirit’s work here at Northland. To God be the glory!

Class Spotlight Last month, Mr. Wiechmann’s Personal Challenges and Team Activities class grabbed their paddles and went canoeing. The goal of this class is to bond the students while teaching them responsibility and teamwork, as well as exposing them to our area’s rivers and lakes. The teamwork started even before they hit the water: each student had a responsibility to get the boats and other supplies off the trailer and ready to go. Once they got on the water, they learned paddle strategies, canoe rescues, and even had a race or two! Senior Becca Heibler said, “I already knew the basics of canoeing, but learning the paddle strokes in-depth made me more efficient.” They used their bus rides to have chapel together as a class, led by Senior Caleb Jeppesen, who said, “It was fun leading the students in worship for their God.” The class will also go fishing later this year. Northland faced off against Faith Christian Academy on September 12th and won 5-2.
