Gideon Klein: Portrait of a Composer A young man’s determination to make music under Nazi occupation.

Based on eye-witness testimony, and letters, Gideon Klein: Portrait of a Composer tells the extraordinary story of an outstanding composer and pianist. Musicians and actors recreate Gideon’s precocious childhood, the exciting artistic environment of pre-war Prague, and the remarkable musical activities of his imprisonment. Written and devised by David Fligg, in a new dramatisation by Brian Daniels and directed by Emma Gordon.

Massala Dance Company NÄSS (People) UK PREMIERE In NÄSS, 7 male dancers trace the evolution of hip-hop, drawing inspiration from strong tribal and African roots. A melting pot of dynamic cultures, fusing Urban, Contemporary and more traditional styles, this is a powerful piece about community and identity, spoken through the universal language of dance.

From the internal chaos of a body to the emotional conflicts within a family, both works tap into moments in life that are simply not expressible in speech.
