Dual Credit provides high school students with the opportunity to get a head start on their post-secondary education – by taking a course(s) that earns them both high school and post-secondary credits at the same time.

Why Take Dual Credit Programming?

Education

Dual Credit programming provides many benefits, including the following: •

aving on the cost of tuition. With Dual Credit fees S covered by the school division, students are required to take fewer courses when they enroll at a post-secondary institution, thereby reducing their future tuition fees.

any students’ high school grades are positively M impacted when they participate in a Dual Credit program because it highlights the importance of education as they consider their future careers.

It helps prepare high school students for a postsecondary academic environment and eases the transition from high school to college.

$500 Bursary Available to Dual Credit Students

It lowers their future workload by allowing them to complete courses that count toward earning a credential before entering a post-secondary institution.

It provides students with an opportunity to engage in hands-on experience that links learning to satisfying careers in the workplace but does not interrupt high school programming.

Northern Lakes College offers a $500 bursary to Dual Credit students who, upon graduating from high school, enroll in the College to continue their post-secondary education.

T he amount of time and money invested in education at the post-secondary level can be significant. Exposure to courses earlier on can assist in determining whether a specific career is the right choice for a student.

for an Inspired Life.

T aking a course (or courses) during high school can give students the motivational boost needed to stay in school and build confidence to continue on a post-secondary path.
