The best way to experience the festival is with a pass, which we offer at two price points. Passes can be purchased online at hnff.ca or select locations thoughout the region (page over). We do not sell advanced tickets to individual film screenings; but we do offer Rush Tickets which are made available after pass holders have been admitted. Out of respect for the filmmakers, we ask you to stay in a showing until all films are finished.
>FILM PROGRAM
Each year, we consider hundreds of films to create an entertaining and thought-provoking program for you, our audience to enjoy. The festival includes screenings in and out of competition. All submitted films have been viewed by the selection committee and then judged by our Festival Jury. Always check our website for the most current films and screening details. 4

>>>WELCOME MESSAGES
> Mayor of Quinte West On behalf of the City of Quinte West and my fellow Councilors, we are happy to support the Hollywood North Film Festival. In a film studio created in 1917 in Trenton, over 1,500 silent films were produced, including Canada’s first major motion picture “Carry On Sergeant”. Even though that era of silent film production came to an end here, we are proud of events such as this one that not only showcases great film from around the world but supports and promotes our local filmmakers as well. I want to congratulate the Hollywood North Film Festival on encouraging the love of film and helping to foster the growth of film making in the Quinte Region and beyond. These events, as well as the talented filmmakers that participate, create a product we all can share in and enjoy as a community. Sincerely, Mayor Jim Harrison 8
> Mayor of Prince Edward County On behalf of the County of Prince Edward, it is my distinct pleasure to welcome the Hollywood North Film Festival to our community and the Regent Theatre, a true local treasure and part of our proud heritage. Here in The County, we take great pride in our thriving arts and culture scene. Visitors and residents alike support the many festivals and events that showcase talented filmmakers, writers, musicians, and visual artists. We hope you enjoy the films. And while you are here, we invite you to explore The County and experience all that our community has to offer. Sincerely, Mayor Steve Ferguson
> Festival Director Welcome to the 2019 Hollywood North Film Festival! We’re excited to be back and presenting the absolute best independent films. This year’s program features over 20 Canadian short and animated films! Increasingly each year some of the best work originates from Canadians and our local filmmakers! All the films playing made the cut after being viewed by our Festival Jury. The festival opens Friday with the psychological thriller LUCE. Following all-day Saturday are short films playing at the Centre Theatre. We’re proud to be working with the Canadian Mental Health Association: Hastings and Prince Edward Branch to bring you a free screening of HUMBOLDT: THE NEW SEASON Saturday afternoon. Finally, to close the festival will be the retro crime adventure - EASY DOES IT. I invite you to join us in welcoming filmmakers visiting from across the province and from around the world. See you at the cinema! Festival Director Jacob Côté
>The HNFF audience is an integral part of the festival. As such we give you the opportunity to vote for your favourite film! The winner will be announced at the Closing Party and Awards.

EASY DOES IT 1hr 35mins | USA | Mature Themes | Drama Directed by: Will Addison Starring: Linda Hamilton, Dwight Henry, Bryan Batt, and Susan Gordon Shot with 16mm for a true ‘70s road-movie aesthetic, Easy Does It follows the scrappy anti-heroics of two Mississippi no-hopers on a treasure hunt of epic proportions. In their chase for the American Dream, these not-so-naturalborn killers somehow stumble into national notoriety as public enemies number one and two. Geeky dreamboat hostage in tow, this trio of star-crossed friends smash-cut their way through the American Southwest in a blaze of fireworks, color gels, and weed-induced animation sequences. An analogue scrapbook of blood-and-paint-soaked folksiness, the film exposes the jacked-up machismo and delusions of grandeur that fuel the aspirational hearts of crooks, cops, and those caught somewhere in the middle.
