PREDICAMENTS how to overcome them
Beauty comes from within; it’s a multiple of things including happiness, elegance, confidence, charisma and so on. Beauty and happiness are often talked about as one thing, so how do we make ourselves happy and in turn beautiful? Practising an attitude of gratitude is one technique that I’ve found has worked wonders for picking myself up when life’s less than perfect moments happen. Sometimes searching for the “silver lining” is all you need to turn your mood around. When you have a moment of self doubt think of three things you are thankful for. ■ If you want to overcome feeling like you’re not good enough, think of three things that have challenged, you that you have conquered. Be thankful that you had the courage, the ability and the knowledge to get past those hurdles. ■ If you are looking in the mirror and feeling you’re not pretty enough, think of three things that you have that others may not. Be thankful for your nose, eyes, lips, brows etc. They give you the gift of smell, sight and taste that others do not have. Very few people are perfectly symmetrical and even fewer people appreciate it. ■ Want to do something new but think you can’t? Think of three things you can do to move towards your goal, however small those steps may be and be thankful for the opportunity to do each of those things. ■ Be thankful for the people around you; your friends, family, acquaintances. The people who share their lives with you, who care enough to do things for you and with you. Do a wonderful thing for them by telling them how grateful you are for doing the things they do. Trust me they’ll love you for it and it’ll make you happy too. ■ When others are cruel, say offending things ... I believe everything is an opportunity to learn and sometimes the biggest lessons are the hardest ones. A critical comment from someone can trigger self-hate. Instead of holding onto the words, be grateful that you now know what is hurting you and can work towards addressing it. Don’t let yourself be influenced by the outside world, what we see, hear and experience can change our outlook, for better or worse. However small the things you are grateful are; they are worth thinking about. Taking the time to focus on what you have will lift your mood, make you happy and let your beauty shine.
