Welcome all teams to Colorado and the the North American Hockey League Future Prospects Tournament (FPT). The North American Hockey League is pleased to be welcoming in the New Year with you. This is the final FPT of the 2016-17 season and we are thankful for the opportunity to host this event with the Rocky Mountain Roughriders of the NAPHL. The Future Prospects Tournament series has been tremendously successful throughout the first three events, and we are certain that this final installment will not disappoint. Celebrating its 41st season in 2016-17, the North American Hockey League, the only USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier II Junior league boasting 24 teams in 12 states from across North America, prides itself on the social maturity and skill development of student-athletes ages 16-20 with aspirations of advancing to collegiate and/or professional hockey. The NAHL offers junior hockey players the opportunity to develop, learn, train, grow and succeed, while playing for free. The NAHL is unique in the fact that a vast majority of players begin their NAHL careers without an NCAA opportunity, but earn one through the course of their development in the league. During the 2015-16 season, the NAHL set a new single-season record with 259 NCAA commitments, 67% of which were NCAA Division I commitments. In addition, 12 NAHL players were listed on the NHL Central Scouting Players to Watch list for the 2017 NHL Draft and five NAHL players were selected in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. To date in 2016-17, there have been 105 NCAA DI commitments out of the NAHL. Additionally, 25 players from the 16U and 18U divisions of the North American Prospects Hockey League have signed NAHL tenders. With a strong handful of college commitments, USHL call-ups and NAHL tenders already signed, the NAPHL is expecting another banner year in terms of player advancement. The Future Prospects Tournament this weekend is geared toward players just beginning their transition to junior hockey. We hope you enjoy the tournament, the competition, the beautiful surroundings, and everything the area has to offer. Best of luck to all teams this weekend!

Welcome to another North American Hockey League (NAHL) Future Prospects Tournament! We are glad you are here for another great event and would like to thank you for your continued support of one of the best junior hockey leagues in North America, the North American Hockey League. It has been an incredible season for the NAHL. To date, we have over 100 NCAA Division I commitments and are well ahead of the pace of last season in which the NAHL set an all-time record of 259 NCAA commitments during one season. In the past five seasons, close to 1,000 players have committed to the NCAA, further evidencing that when it comes to players entering the league without a commitment, but earning one while they are playing in the league, there is no one better at it than the NAHL. A big part of our success lies within the NAHL family of leagues, which includes the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) and the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL). In all, we have three leagues and 115 teams under our umbrella. Each year we experience more in season movement and more advancement up the ladder of development than the year before. We are excited to welcome everyone to Colorado for another great Future Prospects Tournament event. So far during the 2016-17 season, the NAHL Future Prospects Tournaments have seen some outstanding competition, matching up teams from all over the United States as they get a taste of what our event structure and leagues are all about. This is an innovative and unique event designed to provide visiting teams and players with an experience that will help prepare, expose and educate them to opportunity provided by the NAHL. Our goal this weekend is to have everyone come away from this event better prepared to make an informed decision regarding the next steps in their hockey career. We will continue in our mission to provide more places for players to play and coaches to coach, than any other hockey property in the country, which truly defines the North American Hockey League as the League of Opportunity. The more players and parents can learn who we are and what we are about, the more people desire to be part of who we are and the difference we make in these young men’s lives. We hope you have a great experience and welcome to Colorado!

What is the Future prospects combine? The intent and goal of all North American Future Prospects Combine events is to provide the aspiring hockey player an opportunity to take part in a one-of-a-kind learning experience. Each Future Prospects Combine is designed to maximize exposure, education and experience at grand-scale events. Operated by the NAHL professional staff and coaches, each Future Prospects Combine is designed to provide a glimpse into a true “NAHL EXPERIENCE”. The objective of an “NAHL Experience” is to provide exposure, education and an experience for prospects that strive to advance their hockey development at the junior hockey and college level. EXPOSURE allows each player to showcase their abilities in front of NAHL Central Scouting, junior coaches, and college scouts. EDUCATION ensures the players are provided knowledge about NCAA compliance and eligibility. Each player will learn about recruiting processes, the correct / legitimate path to college hockey, as well as exploring the three different tiers of junior hockey. EXPERIENCE equals a top notch, professional, memorable experience for players from all over North America and Europe. Players learn in individual and game settings, on and off the ice, from NAHL professional staff and coaches. At the event, players will be introduced and exposed to junior hockey including the NAHL, NA3HL, and the NAPHL (Tier I Midget Hockey). The players weekend will consist of competitive hockey, education of the future levels of hockey, academic preparation for NCAA hockey and exposure to professional, college, and junior scouts. This includes seminars that discuss the NAHL junior hockey experience, the ladder of development, as well as, NCAA compliance seminars. Guest speakers will include those from the NAHL and NCAA. On the ice, each team will play four games: three roundrobin games and one playoff game. Each team will have NAHL and NA3HL coaches working with the players in the locker room and on the bench during the games. This is a very valuable time for both the players and the coaches as new relationships are being developed.
