Static ground mount system
The new Static Ground Mount from Kinetic Solar Racking and Mounting is suitable for all framed bifacial PV modules (PVM) and monofacial PV modules. The static ground mount is available in landscape and portrait configurations. It is engineered for a (q50) Wind Load of up to 1.0kPa, a snow load of 2.5kPa, and a rain load of 0.8kPa. It is designed for ease of installation with the use of datums, there is no need for drilling or cutting. With hot-dipped galvanized finished frames, aluminum rails, standard Kinetic end-clamps, mid-clamps, and stainless-steel hardware, the Static Ground Mount is available for modules sized up to 2300mm x 1160mm or equivalent total area.

Nailable solar shingle
GAF Energy, a Standard Industries company has launched its Timberline Solar roof to North and South Carolina residents. Timberline Solar integrates solar technology into traditional roofing processes and materials. This new system incorporates a nailable solar shingle, the Timberline Solar ES Energy Shingle, which is assembled domestically at GAF Energy’s U.S. manufacturing and R&D facility. Timberline Solar boasts a depth of less than a quarter inch and integrates with traditional shingles to create a sleek and attractive look. It has achieved UL’s 7103 certification, which authorizes GAF Energy to install the system on residential roofs as a roofing product and a solar energy product. In addition, GAF Energy worked with Sandia National Laboratories, a U.S. Department of Energy research and development lab, to verify the product’s strength and durability.

The new SMP12 is a fast response spectrally flat Class A pyranometer that combines solid-state dome heating preventing dew and frost, with no moving parts, and powerful surge protection to maximize accuracy and minimize maintenance. The SMP12 combines sensor and diffuser technology from the RaZON+ PH1 and PR1 radiometers with an enhanced version of the Smart interface and the low maintenance of the SMP10. The SMP12 has an internal drying cartridge that will last for at least 10 years if the housing is not opened. This further reduces maintenance significantly. The SMP12 has a 2-wire RS-485 Modbus RTU interface but it does not have an analog output. The characteristics of the thermopile detector provide a fast response time of less than half a second. The wide power supply range from 10 to 30VDC makes integration into solar energy plant performance monitoring stations easy. SMP12 has 2-stage surge and reverse polarity on the power input and 3-stage surge protection on the RS-485 data lines. The calibrated sensitivity is stored in memory and the Modbus irradiance value is directly in W/m2. Pyranometers can be exchanged or recalibrated and no changes in the plant monitoring data logger or SCADA system are needed. SmartExplorer Windows software provides data logging on a PC, display of data, changing RS-485 communication settings, setting the Modbus address, and more. SmartExplorer is free and can be downloaded from the web.
