It’s early spring and everything is starting to look green.

The dirty snow is gone you know, replaced by something clean.

From every twig, from small to big, the buds begin to squeeze. They push and push from every bush and green up all the trees. 7

22

And through summer I will slumber beneath your cooling shade.

23

To hear the birds sing cheery words among your leafy crown.

24

Until the fall when you’ll be all a gold or red or brown.

You’ll tumble down to coat the ground before the winter wind.

To hide below the cold white snow till spring comes to the glen.

Then once again you’ll be my friend when sunshine calls your name.

So hello leaf. I will be brief; I’m very glad you came. 29
