closes out Skip Hill’s Under The Mango Tree (left page), featuring the newest works from the Oklahoma favorite inspired by a recent stay in Brazil, boasting the same bold color and energy of his previous beloved pieces. Work by printmaker, OU MFA student and Norman Arts Council Individual Artist Award winner Jessi Wilson (left) will be displayed in the Library Gallery, while Dismember, a collection of digital collages by Norman graphic artist Joshua Boydston (right) can be seen in the Water Closet Gallery.


WHAT: McMichael Music Rock Clinic Bands, Duct Tape Darlings and Street Art WHERE: Dreamer Concepts: An Art Space for Emerging Artists, 324 E. Main WHEN: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. ABOUT: Dreamer Concepts becomes a hub for a variety of emerging craftsmen,

musicians and graffiti artists, featuring live music by McMichael Music Studio’s Rock Clinic bands, accessories by Duct Tape Darlings (Grace Spores and Esther White, 10 and 11 years of age respectively) and graffiti art from Andy Jacobs, Kellen Carter and Robert Levering on the back patio!

ABOUT: Firehouse Art Center debuts CLAY 2013, a national juried exhibtion featuring artists from across the country — including Anastasia Gabriel (top) and Brad Blair (right). $1,500 in prizes will be awarded to the artists. Firehouse Art Center has been a leader in ceramic arts since its establishment by a trio of Norman potters in 1971.


WHAT: Opening Reception for Jacqueline Iskander WHERE: The Performing Arts Studio, 200 S. Jones WHEN: 6 to 9 p.m.

ABOUT: The Performing Arts Studio proudly displays the work of Tulsa mosaic artist Jacqueline Iskander, who began exploring the world of mosaic in 1996, studying with masters in both the United States and Italy. Light refreshments will be served with music provided by a graduate student string duo from the University of Oklahoma.

featuring music by DJs Cosmonautilus and Max Artho, along with Blacktop Democracy + Friends. There will also be food trucks, a photo wall, vintage cars and the featured work of nature photographer Sheeron Salinas.

ABOUT: Joy’s Palace hosts Finding Meaning: The Art of Recovery, an art happening in celebration of recovery presented by The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substan Abuse Services and Thunderbird Clubhouse. The New Orleans Hot Jazz Burlesque Show preview will also run from 7 to 10 p.m.

ABOUT: Gray Owl Coffee showcases Oklahoma-by-way-of-Houston artist Lana Leigh, her work combines layers of delicate textures with subtle colors to create ethereal forms that unify human anatomy with shapes from nature.
