AIMS OF THE DIVERSE HERITAGE (EDI) NETWORK FORUM:

• Create a forum aimed at promoting diverse, inclusive industrial heritage

• Everyone is welcome especially for beginners/ enthusiasts/professionals – simply time to talk!

• Share experiences in the industrial heritage sector or experiences within the equality diversity inclusion (EDI) arena

• Support the EDI local, national, global agendas

• Share knowledge, ideas and to problem solve around EDI, to support the industrial heritage sector or/and other sectors

• Celebrate and to build resilience around EDI, within the industrial heritage sector in the UK and overseas

• Forge links with industrial heritage organisations overseas, through potential EDI diverse heritage projects

• Develop innovative and entrepreneurial growth ideas for diverse industrial heritage projects

• Help fundraise to support diverse industrial heritage professionalism and leadership

• Develop self-led leadership paths to fulfilment of positive change for all.

UK Heritage Sector: Scope

• Redundancies on the increase ( particularly since Covid lockdown period)

What constitutes ‘industrial heritage’?

Industrial heritage is a wide field and constitutes of mainly the material remains of industry: industrial sites, buildings and architecture, plant, machinery and equipment as well as housing, industrial settlements, industrial landscapes, products and processes, and documentation of the industrial society, communities and individuals mine sites, ironworks, water and steam-powered textile mills, wind mills, waterworks, glassworks, potteries, railways, breweries, maltings, roads, bridges, ports, harbours, gas works, workers housing and more.

Can involve:

Voice/ personal narratives, cultures & memories, costumes, community heritage, social activities

Can be located: in parks & landscapes, canals and waterways etc.

Can be seen at: museums, parks, through touring exhibitions etc.
