for 3-5 year olds

Does your little one love to hunt bugs in the yard? Are they fascinated by the world around them? Then give them a thrill with our “I love bugs” class. In this 4 week class for 3-5 year olds, they’ll learn and play while studying a new bug each week like dragon flies, lady bugs and spiders. They’ll create crafts and play games - all with a bug theme.

Master Earl Absher, 7th degree black belt, teaches a combination of Tae Kwon Do, Karate, and selfdefense for ages 3 to adult. Practical “real life” self protection program for all students. For ages 11 to 15 This class will prepare you to (1) respond to emergencies and illnesses with first aid, rescue breathing, and infant/child CPR, (2) make decisions under pressure, (3) communicate with parents to know household rules, (4) recognize safety and hygiene issues, (5) manage young children, (6) feed, diaper, and care for infants. T-BALL for boys & girls ages 3-6

Children will learn how to play baseball in a FUN, non�threatening environment. The program teaches children a variety of skills including: catching, throwing and batting. Teamwork is emphasized and parent participation is highly encouraged. Parent volunteers are also needed to coach. Please bring child’s birth certificate when registering.

NOR Snow Board / Ski Club Kids ages 4 to 18 years old, break out your snowboards or skis and experience the thrills of Sierra Summit Ski Area! Saturday Program Jan. 10,17,24,31 Feb. 7,14 For kids 4 to 18 (kids ages 4 to 7 must be accompanied by an adult). The program includes lessons in the morning (for both parents and kids and skiing in the afternoon. The bus is fully chaperoned. Tumbling Level One:

(1 hour) Ages: 6-10. This class is designed for children that want to learn how to tumble but do not want to learn everything about gymnastics. (This is a good class for beginning cheer). Children will learn the fundamentals for tumbling (cartwheels, headstand, forward/ backwards rolls, etc.) [2 separate classes]

COMPETITION SQUAD - NEW! Competition cheerleaders will participate in football games and monthly competitions (around 2 per month). Season begins in mid March and goes until the end of April. All girls are expected to finish out the competition year if they decide to compete. NON-COMPETITION SQUAD! Children will participate in football games and have the OPTION to purchase a uniform. After the football season they will learn dances and cheers to prepare them for the next season.

Riverview Open Gym

Techniques and Equipment A hands-on adventure in rock climbing. You learn tying knots, climbing commands and signals. Ages 6 and up. Each week you climb in Riverview's own specialized climbing gym, featuring 16 foot high walls with overhangs, cracks, pockets, edges, pinches, underclings, and slopers.

Indian Cooking

Get a taste of world cultures and learn to cook some of India’s finest cuisine in this cooking class for people age 16 and over. Each class we will cook a different set of delicacies from India.

Our facilities are available for reserved use from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Community groups & private individuals are encouraged to use the facilities for recreational, educational, cultural and other worthwhile purposes. Facilities may be rented only at those times when such use does not conflict with regularly scheduled NOR programs. Reservations may be made up to one year in advance. Cooking with Cora

Your kids will learn their way around a kitchen during this two hour cooking event for kids ages 6 to 12. Students will create a yummy dish to take home and share with the whole family. Limited to the first 12 students to pre-register for each 1-day class.

Take the first step toward becoming an NOR Lifeguard!

Saturday January 24, 8am-5pm Monday-Friday January 26-30, 6:30-9pm Saturday January 31, 8am-5pm Saturday February 7, 8am-5pm Saturday February 14, 8am-5pm

This class will train you for an exciting job as a Lifeguard. The course includes: Lifeguarding skills, First Aid, CPR for adults, youth and infants, CPR for the Professional Rescuer which includes AED administration, bloodborne pathogen training, and oxygen adminstration. Students must swim 300 yards using Front Crawl, Back Crawl, and your choice of stroke. Students will surface dive from a 10 foot pool, pick up a 10lb brick, and swim breast stroke 25 yards with brick. The students will need to be able to tred water for 5 minutes with no hands. Jujitsu SELF DEFENSE Learn about traditional martial arts that incorporates Jujitsu & Karate. This is a realistic self-defense class, it is not a sport. If you are a female mentor and you are ready to help the girl in your life identify and widen her view of beauty, bring her to the “real beauty workshop for girls”. This interactive session will shed light on how “ideal” images of beauty have the ability to affect how we see ourselves and our bodies opening up healthy dialog about self-esteem.
