Sanna Huldén, the Chair for the Expert Group for Network funding in 2020, comments the year 2020: This year has been exceptional for the granted networks as well as for the Expert group. Both require working closely together and learning from each other. This is done through meetings. But this year the meaning of ”meeting” has changed. It does no longer include spontaneous encounters, sharing glances and smiles, common experiences of the atmosphere in the room... The distance in a remote meeting is hard to counter. Yet, lacking better alternatives, we are grateful that virtual meetings exist. The need to meet and the need to network is still there. The Covid-19 crisis has hit the cultural sector incredibly hard but to the expert group’s positive surprise the amount of network applications did not decrease during 2020. Let’s hope that’s proof of belief and resilience, a strength to look forward, until we meet again.
