March mania is on and all Iowa State has to do to get to the sweet 16 is beat UConn and Kentucky. No problem! It didn’t look like Creighton faired much better. Please keep in mind that we have several real good cow and bull auctions coming up. Our top weigh bulls brought $112/lb this week and it looks like a great time to trade. There were some reports around this week that boxed meat movement is getting a little sluggish at these price levels. I guess we’ll wait and see what happens on these feds. Finally we lost an awfully good friend this weekend when Zane McBride from Logan passed away.

FED CATTLE/WEIGH COWS TUES, MARCH 6TH: Big weigh cow special w/near 400 head over the 2 days. That market remains awfully good. The percentage of open cows continues to be a very big problem. With the southern drought and way too many open cows our 2012 calf crop will be excessively small. Light run of fat cattle on a steady market. Next weigh cow special is Tues, March 20th.
