(photo submitted) The 2012 Page County Fair Stitch This! was held on July 18 at Wibhom Hall at the Page County Fairgrounds in Clarinda. Stitch This! is a six-hour design challenge in which teams deconstruct garments and reconstruct them into a new wearable garment. Participants were asked to bring a sewing machine and accessories for a day of designing. This year’s challenge was a Cinderella theme. Teams were given a dress that was not at all suitable for Cinderella to wear to the ball. The teams transformed the dress into something worthy of dancing with Prince Charming. Congratulations to Team Adventures –

Maranda Culbertson, Coin, and Misty Hammers, College Springs – Stitch This! champions. Other teams were the Dashing Divas – Loren Brady and Stacie Fischer, Shenandoah, and the Nebraska Top Notch Stitchers – Kambrea, Kandalyn, and Karissa Davies, Clarinda. All participants received blue ribbons. It was great to watch these youth design and create their vision. Join us next year for a new Stitch This! challenge. Call Debbie Swanson, Page County Youth Coordinator, at the Page County Extension office, 712-542-5171, if you want to be involved.
