Inspiring Volunteering Awards This is your chance to tell us about a volunteer making a difference in your community; nominate them now for one of the Volunteer of the Year 2011 categories. Take a look through the categories below and tell us why you think your Volunteer or Volunteer Team should receive an Inspiring Volunteering Award 2011. Short listed nominees will be invited to an awards ceremony on Wednesday 15 th June, where winners and runnersup will be announced. Award Categories
1. The Plymyouth Award (Young Volunteer of the Year) sponsored by Plymouth City Council Youth Service (2 awards) Categories (i) 615 years old (ii) 1625 years old We want to celebrate the work done by young people, in two categories; 615 and 16 – 25 yrs old, all over Plymouth who give up their time to help others in their local community, at youth clubs, at school and on a more personal level. 2. Turning Point Award sponsored by The Innovation School This award is in celebration of those who have had to overcome a major obstacle to carry out their volunteering. They may be volunteering as a pathway to employment, learning new skills or helping them to turn their life around. 3. Long Term Commitment to Volunteering sponsored by Plymouth Guild Do you know someone for whom volunteering is a way of life? Young or old, this person is someone who your group or organisation can count on in times of need. 4. Sports Volunteer of the Year sponsored by Plymouth Hope Football Club This category recognises the importance of sports in all walks of life and the huge contribution volunteers make, many activities simply wouldn’t happen without their dedication and hard work. 5. Social Enterprise Volunteer of the Year sponsored by the University of Plymouth This award recognises significant & sustained engagement with our local community. Through either raising educational aspirations of individuals or groups, or supporting social enterprises, innovation and entrepreneurship. 6. Environmental Volunteer of the Year sponsored by Groundwork Trust This award recognises those who volunteer with an environmental project or organisation. 7. Volunteer Team of the Year sponsored by The Herald This award is for a team of volunteers who are noted for their enthusiasm and dedication and who are known for going above and beyond the call of duty.
