Under normal conditions, there is very little uranium in the groundwater; it’s stuck to the sand grains in the rocks


ISL mining causes uranium to be freed from the rocks, contaminating the groundwater

This diagram shows how the uranium-bearing g channels are stacked on top of each other; this makes containment of mining fluids during operations and restoration of contaminated groundwater after mining g difficult.
