National Water Week The National Water Week is an awareness week campaign by the Department of Affairs which serves as a powerful campaign mechanism re-iterating the value of water, the need for sustainable management of this scarce resource and the role water plays in eradicating poverty and under-development in South Africa. The campaign seeks to continue building on the on-going awareness creation within the broader South African community. This awareness creation is coupled with the responsibility that every citizen must take in ensuring the integrity of our water resources and its efficient use. Authentic Tasks used Task 1 ďƒ˜ Authentic activities provide the opportunity for students to examine the task from different perspectives, using a variety of resources. ďƒ˜ Authentic activities allow competing solutions and diversity of outcomes ďƒ˜ Authentic activities provide the opportunity to collaborate. I used these authentic characteristics for this activity because I wanted the learners to have an opportunity to examine different issues from the task in different perspectives using whatever useful resources. Also to have solutions after the task and be able to view diversity of the task based on his or her findings. The task also allowed learners to have abilities to work with others in terms of completing the task.

Authentic Tasks used Task 2 ďƒ˜ Authentic activities comprise complex tasks to be investigated by students over a sustained period of time. ďƒ˜ Authentic activities have real-world relevance. ďƒ˜ Authentic activities allow competing solutions and diversity of outcome. I used this authentic characteristics for these task because it allows the learner to investigate and research about the given topic. This task allow learners to consider the real world issues and also understand how other people live. The task asked the learner to do the questionnaire that way it allows the learner to have many diverse outcomes.

Authentic Tasks used Task 3 ďƒ˜ Authentic activities are seamlessly integrated with assessment. ďƒ˜ Authentic activities provide the opportunity to reflect. The reasons to use these authentic characteristics for this task is that I want to provide the learners with the clear understanding of the previous tasks, for instance this task allow learners to reflect about the major two tasks that were given and also this task is related to the other tasks which will make it easier for the learner to engage to it.
