This is a checkable item. In other words, it can be on or off; when it's on, its icon appears pressed down, and when it's off, it looks normal. The default is on, meaning that when you type into the grid, your letters will be upper-cased automatically. If you turn it off, you will be able to type lower case letters into the grid. The second thing to configure is the case-sensitivity of answer-checking. To do this, go to the Configuration screen, click on the Other tab, and find the Make answer checking case-sensitive checkbox. If this is checked, then if your answer contains lower-case letters, and the student types upper-case letters, the answer will be marked wrong. -o-

Breaking up the sentence into segments To create your JMix exercise, break up the sentence yourself into separate segments, making them as big or as small as you like. To do this, just put each segment on a separate line. For example, to break up the sentence "Yes, we have no bananas." into segments, you would type this into the main sentence box: Yes , we have no bananas
