SECTION:1 INTRODUCTION House SJ was build in the year of 2017 by STAARC ingenieurs en architecten in Belgium. Lead architects were Lore Venheyleweghen and Jan Vanderstraeten. The house was build in an area of 180.0 square metres. Manufacturers of the house were Bomarbre, Wienerberger, Thermowood, Aliplast. The home is compact, affordable and energy-efficient. It was build for a young family. When it was build; a great attention was paid by the STAARC architects to make it energy efficient and the solution for this results in a dynamic home with a wide open-space and with a clear view of the rural surroundings. For creating unrestricted openness; all rooms inside the home are concentrated around an open area so we can get a feeling of all round breathing space. Along with a wide-open view this thing also promotes interaction among the home occupants. There are solar panels in this home to make it energy efficient. A great attention is paid to the insulation, air-tightness and air-sealing of the home to make it future proof. Additionally there is air-to-water heat pump in this home for the heating purpose. Boundaries that separate different floors are blurred through the introduction of split -levels in this home.

PAGE:1

SECTION:2 ARCHITECTURAL STYLES AND FEATURES • The house is of modern architectural style. In the centre of architectural design of this home; there is a wide-open space and all rooms are connected with each other. There are large windows that act as a source of natural daylight. • There are split levels by means of which living spaces have higher ceilings. • Simple material is used in the construction of home like concrete, wood and there is red facing brickwork. • A light hearted touch is introduced to the whole structure of the home by varying the position of the facing brickwork pattern between the horizontal and the vertical. • There is a feeling of warmth inside the bedrooms because of the wooden floor boards. • The owner of the house selected green colour for the bathroom fittings, kitchen installations and furnishings.

PAGE:2

SECTION:3 CIRCULATION AND ZONING OF THE HOUSE There is open-space in the house for moving here and there. When we will enter the house we come across a lot of space. The kitchen of the house is open type. In front of the kitchen there is dining so a person can easily move from the kitchen to the dining table. Then after dining there is living area. There is no barrier between the kitchen, dining and living area that ensures easy circulation in the ground floor. In the living area there is sliding door with glass fitting so we can easily move outside in the garden from the living area. The glass ensures natural light and a person can enjoy outer view. Stairs to first floor are near to the dining table. There is a washroom near the entrance in the ground floor with a pot and sink in it. A person can enter in this washroom from outside the home as well as from inside because there is a door near the washroom that open to outside the home; there is one more door behind the kitchen that gives way to the washroom. Now if we talk about first floor when a person will move upstairs then in the front there is a master bedroom; near the bedroom there is a washroom. First floor also contains a study room. If someone is standing on the first floor then he or she can easily have a view of the ground floor. On the top of living area there are two small bedrooms. Both are near to each other.

PAGE:3

SECTION:4 CONSTRUCTION SYSTEMS AND MATERIALS In SJ house a great attention is paid to the insulation of the house. There is air sealing and air tightness in this house. The floor of this house is in poly–concrete. This creates a homey atmosphere. All the ceilings of the home are made up of concrete except for the ground level floor. Mainly the house is made up of concrete, wood and red brick.

In the bedroom there is wooden floorboard. The bathroom fittings are green in color. White tiles are used in the bathroom. The furnishing and fittings in kitchen is green in colour. Whole floor in the living area is green in colour. Solar panel is attached on the roof of the house as the house is made energy efficient. There are many windows in the house so a lot of glass is used in this house. PAGE:4

SECTION:5 CONCLUSION/ RECOMMENDATIONS By weighing up all the considerations I conclude that SJ house is a perfect house to live in as it is a modern house and it provides all the facilities. Along with all the house is energy efficient which is a very good advantage of the house. The design of the house is really wonderful and the place where it is built is also very beautiful and green and increases the beauty of the house.

Some changes which I thought that there should be in the house are that there should be some more colors in the interior of the house because most of the house is white from inside and if there will be some more colors then the house will look more beautiful. Page:5
