The world is undergoing the largest wave of urban growth in history. Studies have shown that developing countries are more vulnerable in this process and have experienced different social, economic and environmental challenges caused by rapid urbanization. Through the urbanization process, many rural settlements transform to be urban. This transformation without considering the context has lowered the quality of space and posed serious risks to the cultural and natural resources of these settlements. To address these challenges towards sustainable development goals, this research focused on rural heritage to improve the quality of space in newly formed urban settlements. To this target, this research has proposed a rural tourist route in the old and organic fabric of the city which connects two local plazas. Catching the tourist’s attention to the old part of the city, not only will help to preserve the cultural and natural resources but also will activate the local economy, which is all toward sustainable development goals.
