The latest Performance Pay scores are continuing to track exceptionally well for this current tracking period. Let’s keep up the good work by encouraging all Medic employees to be mindful of the following key points: 

Teamwork between EMS Personnel is the #1 driver of overall patient satisfaction; if it takes a big hit, overall patient satisfaction isn’t going to be far behind.


Regardless of the type of medical concern a patient we treat is dealing with, they still judge the level of service they receive and they very well may end up on the other end of one of our patient satisfaction surveys.


Use AIDET on every call


Treat your partner and the other first responders on scene with the same level of respect and teamwork – it does matter


Be mindful of what you say and how you react to everyone in the room

New Mobile Mapping Tool Features Starting Tuesday, May 1st at 12:01 am, Medic will begin use of a new Mobile Mapping Tool to assist field crews in the application of existing Agency destination protocols. How to Use the New Mobile Mapping Tool Features When a Unit is Dispatched

 When a unit is dispatched to a particular call, crews can scroll down to the bottom of the Incident Information screen in Marvlis to find a list of the closest facilities, auto-populated based on each patient’s location: 

One destination will be the closest facility for a STEMI/ROSC Patient

One destination will be the closest ED in Mecklenburg County based on the known chief complaint

 This information is to be used by field crews for possible planning and communication purposes At Depart Scene

 After clicking on Depart Scene, crews will then have three transport options to select from: 

General: A list of ALL possible ED Destinations within the greater Metrolina region - To be used when patient choice is appropriate and they request transport to an out of county facility


Mecklenburg ED: A list of all nine in-county facilities: CMC Huntersville, CMC Main, CMC Mercy, CMC Pineville, CMC Steele Creek CMC University, Presbyterian Huntersville, Presbyterian Main, Presbyterian Matthews - To be used for choosing in-county destinations that are not ROSC/STEMI patients; must be closest facility OR patient choice


ROSC/STEMI: a list of treatment facilities capable of treating patients with these conditions, listed in order of proximity to the Medic unit: CMC Main, CMC Pineville, or Presbyterian Main - To be used for all ROSC/STEMI patients; must be closest facility OR patient choice

 Crews are instructed to click on the appropriate button based on the protocol and proceed to take the patient to the destination as noted

 It is imperative for field crews to continue following Agency destination protocols when using the new features of the mobile mapping tool: 1. Closest facility based on patient need/acuity 2. Patient preference 3. Closest facility Additional Important Points

Midazolam Usage Over the past several months, the Agency has begun to feel the same effects that are being felt nationwide in regards to medication shortages. These shortages and backorders are beyond our control but, affect us nonetheless. One of these effects is a shortage of Midazolam (Versed). Currently the Agency’s stock has dropped to levels which necessitate us to take measures immediately to prioritize its need, allowing patients to receive it where needed most.

Effective immediately, Midazolam (Versed) usage will be limited to ONLY patients who are experiencing an active seizure. The Agency is actively seeking to restore our supply as quickly as possible and, weighing the options of other, alternative medications as well. As soon as we have replacements in place or an acceptable alternative, we will pass the information along. In the meantime, should you have questions or concerns, please contact a member of Learning and Development. Thank you.

Wi-Fi Access in Post and CMED The survey results from last year indicated that Medic needed to invest some time on upgrading our current Posts. Based on your feedback, a group of managers/supervisors formed a work team to evaluate what needed to be addressed. A common comment from employees was the need for accessing technology, mainly the need for Wi-Fi throughout the Posts. Medic is happy to announce that employees now have access to Wi-Fi in Posts 61, 74, 50 and 53. Below are the instructions on how to access the Wi-Fi from your personal devices:  SSID: post_wifi 

Please keep in mind that access is limited to five simultaneous connections and only connect devices that do not already have internet access. There are no restrictions (websites blocked) for Medic Wi-Fi at Posts. However, we ask that all employees adhere to the Standards of Behavior and refer to Medic’s policy for internet usage. A copy of Medic’s policies can be found on the Extranet at Please keep in mind, connections and usage can still be monitored through Medic’s server. In addition, Wi-Fi will SOON be activated in CMED. Annual Employee Survey Medic is continuously striving to improve employee satisfaction and it’s that time of the year to share your thoughts with the Agency! This year, the survey has been condensed to really focus on key factors that directly impact employee satisfaction and we look forward to everyone’s participation. The annual Medic Employee Survey will be administered during the first 20-30 minutes of all April InServices. Administrative staff should plan to attend one of the scheduled In-Service dates to complete the survey. The dates and times are as follows and all In-Services are held in the Medical Services Auditorium: 

HR: Self-Service Items and Processes To better accommodate incoming HR requests and remain accessible, the HR department has restructured a number of items and processes that are now intended for self-service. HR will roll out several new initiatives in the coming months that will enable employees to make changes to their information more efficiently. The first three initiatives are: 

Forms printed and well stocked


Secure Drop Boxes for forms and paper communication to HR

The information boards have been strategically placed inside the Employee Computer Lounge and outside the HR Office. The HR department will fill these boards over the next few weeks with information such as “How to” or “What is” to include contact information for our vendors. Forms are also well stocked in both the Computer Lounge and outside the HR office. Secure Drop boxes for these forms are installed in both locations and will be checked daily by HR personnel only. *Also remember that a ton of HR-related information can be found under the Benefits and Forms section of the Medic Extranet.
