Dear Nikkei Concerns Family, As your Nikkei Concerns approaches our 40th anniversary year, we maintained a laser focus in 2014 on planning for the future, enhancing current and launching new programs/services… to be the “premier” senior healthcare organization! Below are 2014 highlights of your Nikkei Concerns… • Seattle Keiro retained its “5 Star” nursing home rating (4th year in a row!) and has worked diligently to enhance our short-term rehab care while planning for renovations of our gym! • Nikkei Manor had a record-breaking year in occupancy while earning a “Bronze” rating by AHCA/NCAL’s National Quality Award Program and is aiming for “Gold!” • Kokoro Kai opened in Bellevue at Grace Lutheran Church… extending their wonderful service and activities for participants and family members on the Eastside! • Nikkei Horizons provides enriching experiences through their workshops and classes in Seattle and Bellevue while touring historic European sites of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team! • The 3rd “Living Well” Health Fair, in partnership with JACL, offered over 50 exhibitors, speakers and demos that touched on a variety of healthy living practices, food, and more! • NC Transportation launched in March (and continues to grow!), providing much needed service for all NC programs and the broader community! • Home & Community-Based Services and NC Catering/Meal Delivery were on the cusp of being launched… to support individuals’ health and wellness at home! • We continue to make steady progress in our overall fiscal health. How can all of this happen and much more? Because of all of YOU! At Seattle Keiro, those with short-term rehabilitation or long-term care needs discover a second family with our volunteers and employees. Caring and committed staff provide 5-star quality rehab and skilled nursing care.
Our mom is comfortable and happy at Seattle Keiro because of the staff and volunteers, especially Zina, who takes extra special good care of our Mom. We trust them to care for her like one of the family, because everyone makes us all feel like we are family. — Mary Yuasa Family

nikkei manor ASSISTED LIVING COMMUNITY
Emi Mayeda is engaged with and surrounded by friends at Nikkei Manor. Nikkei Manor residents have peace of mind and unique opportunities for socialization and creativity. Their golden years are fun and enjoyable because we take care of daily chores, freeing up time to make new friends (or discover old ones) in Zumba GoldŠ, go on outings around the Puget Sound, or find the hidden artist within.
She gets involved in arts & crafts, card games, and other activities, which all bring out her beautiful smile.

Kokoro Kai participants maintain independence, enhance quality of life, and promote health and wellness, with the support of our dedicated volunteers and staff. Through engaging activities and social interaction, enthusiasm and vitality emerges from even the most mild mannered, reflected in smiles and laughter.

Nikkei Horizons opens up a world of unique learning opportunities. Whether they pursue adventure through unique tours or innovative classes, students try new things, see with new perspectives, and pursue lifelong learning together.
Togetherness and camaraderie are why Mas and Anna Tahara love Nikkei Horizons’ Lunch Bunch outings. It’s fun to try new restaurants, too, even if they can’t finish the whole plate.

NC transportation DOOR-TO-DOOR SERVICE
NC Transportation, new to the Nikkei Concerns Family, provides door-to-door service and more! Thanks to the safe and reliable drivers, residents, participants, and community members maximize their independence and their health. We currently contract with King County/Metro to drive participants from home to the Legacy House ADS Program and look forward to expanding our services.
With the transition to NC Transportation, Yong Wang has a positive experience with a familiar driver who provides great customer service every time.
