Transcending design fields, the thesis abstracts two-dimensional rules of composition used in Latin-roman script into a three-dimensional space as typography and interior design share roots in terms of structure, pattern, proportion, rhythm and function. This space would be a comic book and graphic novel library in Empire Stores, Dumbo. mfa interior design spring 2018 revit, autocad, illustrator, indesign and photoshop.

framing the square urban square design

Inspired by the elevations of the historic building facades around the square and considering the minimal amount of natural light available throughout the year, the concept is to bring in more light into the space making it lively while blending with the surroundings. Creating an environment that is hospitable for events or small gatherings even during the long winter nights. It is made sure that there is a continuous cycling path creating physical and visual stimuli. dis-copenhagen urban design summer 2016 revit, autocad, lumion, indesign and photoshop.

Designed as a coffee table for a 30 year old male in his informal living at the weekend home. The woven leather blends with the surrounding leather sofas. It is multi-functional as it also acts as an ottoman. It creates a balance through the form and yet is asymmetrical. The use of white acrylic brings an interesting texture to the space and compliments the leather and wood. mfa interior design spring 2018 autocad. 29

Material 1

Caribbean Agate Cement-Based Rational for selection Thick, flat slab of concrete that incorporates translucent acrylic within the structure, creating a juxtaposition of two contrasting materials in the same sheet. The acrylic provides translucency. This contrast in the same wall creates an interesting surface, which is smooth and textured at the same time. The acrylic gives a splash of color to the neutral concrete surface making it interesting. The idea is to have a combination of colors that match the landscape around making it look like an abstract painting embossed into the wall separating the bedroom. As well as for the kitchen slab.

Procurement of Material The material comes in standard size of 4 x 8 ft (1.22 x 2.44 m) and 2 in (0.05 m) thick. The cement has a natural grey color and the acrylic is translucent light blue. Customization is available for the size and color of this material. Manufacturer: Company Lavada, Inc. Brooklyn NY 11231

Installation methods 100% acrylic resin is used to fill holes within a glass fiber reinforced cement (GFRC) that have been created during the casting process. The GFRC itself has a high compressive strength and excellent flexural and tensile strength achieved by a high concentration of fibers that carry the tensile loads, while a high polymer content provides toughness. Hence, the material stands on its own without any structural support. The tile size is variable depending on the need and is joined by using a grout.
