LEVEL

Level Level was my end of year final exhibition. Level was about researching the ideas of interstices, gaps, margins and threshold. My intrerest was to examine spaces in the city that a un-regarded or hidden routes and pathways that a much of the time un-used Alleyways are kind of these spaces that are a graffiti in themselves, a deliberate, heavily scored urban discourse made from a vocabulary of building forms and design imperatives. My exhibition consisted of 5 large A0 size black and white photographs of these spaces and also accompanied by video footage. I used high contrast black and white photographs as I thought it gave the spaces more visual interest and emotion. Also giving the photographs striking light and shadow. 2008

The trace itself was derived from significant details of contemporary structures on the site itself for later to take part in the process of displacement of existing forms and replicating them into a new form of order. It was displayed at Britomart Square as part of Urban Gaze 2007 with works of other artist and designers. The process included model making and 3D computer modelling. 2007
