Follow the 5 precepts of Buddhism and chant on the name of Buddha

When in search of enlightenment, or attaining salvation you can silently meditate upon the name of Buddha and follow the basic preaching of his disciples.

The teachings of Buddha are followed by his disciples all over the globe, and it is said that by chanting Amitabha Buddha to become a Buddha in one lifetime many people have achieved true bliss. To make it simpler for people to follow the teachings of Buddhism, Lord Buddha had established the three refuges for his disciples to follow. Anybody who was interested in following the principles laid down by Buddha had to rely on the three points- The Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha which are also commonly known as the triple jewel. The monks and nuns are known as Sangha who preach the teachings of Buddha and stay in monasteries

together as a community. Following the three refuges, a person can reach out to enlightenment and enjoy salvation. When a person takes refuge in the shelter of Buddha, chanting his name and meditating upon him, he is protected against all the harms of life and can live in a fuller way. The teachings of Buddha serve as a guide for the followers and help them to follow the right path of life. Buddha acts as the guide, Dharma the road and the Sangha acts as the teacher for the disciples who are in search of enlightenment and salvation. To gain refuge from the triple jewel one needs to meditate and pray with a calm mind dedicatedly. This is the first step towards enlightenment which will help a person break free from the cycles of death and rebirth. Apart from chanting Amitabha Buddha to become a Buddha in one lifetime, five essential precepts are also essential to be followed by the disciples and the people who are interested in following the religion of Buddhism. The precepts can be mentioned as follows: •

Prohibition from killing and respected the lives of others.

Prohibition from stealing and respecting the property of others.

Prohibition from lying and appreciating the honesty of others.

Abstaining from any misconduct and respecting every individual.

Staying away from intoxicants and respecting the environment.

It is vital that one respect the life of every single individual be it any animal and abstain from killing it. This is the reason why many followers of Buddhism have taken to a vegetarian diet. Snatching away something that does not belong to us is also an immoral thing. Behaving properly and maintaining proper conduct towards everyone you come across helps in the development of virtue and a pure soul. You should also never speak false words as these take away the peace of your mind. The teachings of Lord Buddha strictly prohibit a person from backbiting or speaking harsh words. You will also have to abstain from anything that is intoxicating and keep yourself free from any kinds of harmful addiction.

Therefore, if you are also willing to attain salvation and reach out to enlightenment, you also need to follow the paths and teachings of Buddha and meditate upon his name. Reference: 
