2 Rider for „Flectro”: 1. Computer with Max Msp software or Max runtime (with monitor); 2. 4 loudspeakers + subwoofer; 3. Microphone to record the flute; 4. Midi pedal „foot switch” for flutist; 5. Interface audio-midi with at least 1 input and 4 outputs; 6. Midi controller(s) equiped with 10 buttons, 6 + 8 faders and 9 encoders (recommended: Korg Nanokontrol and Behringer BCF 2000); 7. 2 music stands for flutists and electronic player; 8. Computer monitor for flutist.

Procedures to control electronic setup: 1. Check audio-midi interface parameteres (object „Open”, nr 1) 2. Turn on microphone (nr 2) and locate input that recives the signal (in project in object with a number 3) 3. Connect and check midi-pedal action (nr 5) by turnning on and of the pedal. Remember click on "Reset" object which resets memory of pedal pushes (nr 6) 4. Open patcher "Numerator" and move it to the second monitor (front to flutist) In Numerator window flutist will see number of loop started by pushing pedal. Sound of the flute is directed to the computer and than from computer to the loudspeakers. Flute should be amplified a little bit threw mixer to main speakers (channels 1 and 2) with small natural reverb added. Loudspeakers arrangement diagram : 1

3 Controllers configuration:

Seven faders control "kwinty" patcher. Six of them control volume of sine tone generators. 7th fader is a masterfader for audio sum of all 6 sine signals. Encoders control speed of loops circle motion. Each encoder is ascribed to one loop. First 7 lops should have slower tempo of circulation (from very slow to a little bit faster) and 2 other loops should have faster tempo of circulation. Encoders can be programmed before performance and/or can be moved in a real time. 5 audio clips have to be played according to their places in score. Volume level of all the tracks should be regulated according to action in the piece. From bar 70 overall volume should rise consecutively by smoothly coming up and down till maksimum level in bar 89. After bar 91 as follows: gradually turn down audio clips while at the same starting improvisation by gradually turning up volume of all pure tones in "kwinty" patcher from zero level. The only audio clip which should not be turn off completely is a clip number 5 and it should last till the bar 96. Beginning with a bar 96 reverb's fader has to be in its maximum. After the end of flute part all the pure tones and audio clip 5 have to be gradually turned down until silence and at the end smoothly mute reverb's fader. Performer of electronic part should follow this instructions and cooperate with flutist.

Electronic player Electronic player uses Max Msp session and midi controler to perform with following ellements: - 5 audio clips (as marked in score) - flute's reverb - volume of clips, loops and real flute to control the unity of the piece - patcher "kwinty" (improvisation on variety of mixtures of clips and their volumes) Electronics player has to read the score

The Flutist The flutist push midi pedal to start and stop midi loop. Time of recording and placement of loop is marked in a score: start of frame - start pushing pedal end of frame- stop pushing pedal Time of lasting each loop is programmed Flute part - in tremolandos (with jumps between registers) flutist should play comfortably and fluently. All seemingly unwelcome sounds are desired.
