Absolut Elyx Experience, Trailer

For the global launch of Absolut Elyx, the design team has created The Elyx Experience. This included the hotel and the distillery in Åhus, to the trailer in the woods, and ended in the Castle, an abandoned building that represented the end of the journey. The truck trailer was transformed into an amazing bar located in the wonderful landscape of Åhus, Sweden. Thanks to an hidrolik system the side of the trailer folds out and reveal the room setting: a victorian bar with bespoked banquette seating, benches and antique swedish inspired chairs. The challange was to create an amazing experience in an enclosed space, divided in three main area: the coat room where an anqitue wardrobe was placed to work as a portal towards the main bar area and the fold out platform.

The attention to details was one of our priorities. The main structure of the bar was an off the shelf piece, we dressed it with copper sprayed corbels, a velvet padded detail with copper edge on the front and we specified a white washed finish for the oak used in both front bar and back bar. The copper pipe wall lamps belong from a collection which I partly designed for Absolut Dekor Bar styling collection.

Absolut Elyx Experience, Castle For the global launch of Absolut Elyx, the design team has created The Elyx Experience. The Castle, is an abandoned building that represented the end of the journey. We used a dark plankwood wallpaper on the ceiling due to the bad condition of it, however we decided to keep the existing peeled paint on the walls. The room has been converted into a dining room with a small kitchen and a bar unit. Crystal and swedish wood chandeliers hung from the ceiling on top of the long oak table, which seats on an eclectic mix of antique swedish rugs. I worked throughout the whole process, from the development of the concept, through the design of the details, and the purchase of the off the shelf items. SCID_ Shaun Clarkson id Åhus, Sweden

In the evening, candles gently illuminate the space where the marble-fronted bar rise as main focus point in the restaurant. It’s a luxuriously dark yet welcoming space, where southern pine wood fretworks had been used to interestingly break up the room into inviting, intimate enclaves.

I worked alongside with Shaun Clarkson on the concept, I have created several moodboards and sample boards that we showed to the client. That is the reason why we had to take care of every detail in this project, from the structural aspect to the most detail one, such as menu case, bill case, business card, glassware and tableware ( handmade by Adrienne Baba). I have created rendered visuals which helped us to visualize the space, after several proposals we thought the vertical fretwork was the best choice. Black mirrors are placed in within the fretwork, in order to give the illusion of depth. I took care of the furniture and fitting spec sheet too, in order to give the client a list of all the items ( including ironmongery and sanitary ware for the toilets) that the client could sign off.

The fretwork on the wall was designed to match the grid of the ceiling, allowing the spotlights to create a cosy atmposphere and diffuse light at the same time. laminated rose wood has been used for the top of the front bar, while the white marble front has been secured through metallic trim edges. 21

The Fine Burger, St Pancras Station The Fine Burger Company operate four upmarket burger restaurants in London, England. They are part of The Fine Food Company, which also operate fixed site kiosk operations and a fleet of mobile catering units. The aim of the project is to bring something new in St. Pancras International Station, without losing the inspirational qualities of one of the most important victorian building of London. Therefore we chose to place alongside the riveted stainless steel of the counter and the reclaimed wood top of the tables, Thonet bentwood barstools and deep blue velvet banquette seat. The kitchen and counter area is divided from the customer area through the use of a wooden fretwork where different kind of glass panels were used: yellow and blue glass, reeded glass, georgian glass. This fretwork shows victorian details such as the panelling the cut of the glass on the hortogonal side panels. Charcoal grey and light grey tiles brick bonded on the long side wall, had been used as a canvas for the brand comunication, as it happens on the adjacent mirror tile wall, where the logo has been etched onto the mirror tiles.

The fretwork that divides the kitchen area from the customer area is made of timber, sprayed in charcoal grey ( RAL 000 40 00 ) in a matt finish. There are different kind of glass panels withing the structure: blue and yellow glass, referring to the colours of the brand and the graphic of the wall; reeded, frosted glass georgian glass and clear glass, to let the customer see inside the kitchen while the burgers are prepared. The banquette seat along the fretwork is upholstered in antique blue velvet, while the chairs are distressed painted wooden chair. The reclaimed wood has been printed with the logo of the brand, and the leg of the table are Liberty cast iron bases to recall the victorian taste part of the concept. At the entrance there is a brass chandelier with textured bulbs. As a functional light we chose antique blue telephone glass insulator, on which a hole for the cable has been drilled.

tElKi’ An expertise team of manager, leading in the field of catering, started a brand new chain of restaurants in Milan. Studio MAP responded to that, creating a space in which everything can be changed, so that the customer can get everytime a different idea of the space. The heart of the restaurant and the most attractive point is the lunch counter, built with an L shape with translucent georgian glass. The back bar has turquoise-green niches built with laminatesd boards. On the other side of the restaurant there’ s an area in which you can settle a variety of layouts thanks to the pivotì wall, placed between the bathrooms area and the tables close to the windows. After different proposals we decided to work on a deep panel display which could work as a shelving system and at the same time as a graphic support. Alongside with Servomuto lamp shades, several red ropes climb down from the ceiling and work as coat hanger. MAP MUTTI&ARCHITETTIPARTNERS Milan

Expo 2015 : thE supErMArKEt oF thE FuturE The brief requested to create a new format for the supermarket of the future. Besides an innovative design, we developed in the project new logics of sale, always respecting the users. The SIZE MARKET is based on the analysis of the market, in particular on the size of the products nowadays, and how much this aspect can affect on the amount of food waste, in the supermarket and from the users. The concept is based on the selling of packaged products divided by size ( S / M / L ), those products correspond to different nutritional contents. These products are sold inside four different units, which one represent the four main meals of the day, with their own calorie count. This division facilitates the way of sale even because most of the time the users make their grocery shopping based on the meals of the day. Prof.ssa G. Di Lorenzo

32

why sizemarket? The choice to sell products divided by size is translated automatically in the realization of a display module which could make the division even more clear and direct. The module is built with wood planks all stucked

together, so that they create also ceilings and pergolas, outside of the actual selling zone. On the top as you can see there are some examples of the packaging chosen for the products.

33

34

35

In the previous page: plan The long corridor is opening onto four different zones, which one corresponds to the products suitable to breakfast/lunch/ break time/dinner. The wood structure is wrapped into a layer of tyvek (or teflon, even more elastic); this layer is constrained into a game of tanlge made with car belts. The elastic material falls on the floor in order to define the resting and relaxing areas, in which are placed the Serralunga outdoor furniture. scale 1: 100 facade The module of the shelves has become the brick at the base of the construction of the whole supermarket. Indeed this module let us build a long and irregular corridor; through the disposition of the modules you can perceive the areas with less strict boundaries and other areas with more strict boundaries, has you can see here above. 36

The chromatic palette is inspired by the nature and the food, the structure made with wood works as a background; the pastel colors of the belts let the colors of the foods and products coming out. The inner pathway made with grass is alternated with resting areas on the outer part of the supermarket, in which the floor is made with long and narrow concrete tiles. The teflon is wrapping the structure all around and it runs through the belts, which are trapping the building and at the same time are creating the system of shelves. 37

38
