Domain Update: Digital Media Nursery have ventured into the computer suite, and have been logging on and pracOcing lebers using paint. Year 1 and 2 have been using a new coding program called ‘hour of code’, which is a free piece of sodware that can be played at home. It teaches children how to input instrucOonal code, and is themed in different ways such as Moana and Star Wars, making it very abracOve to young coders. Along with this, phase 2 have been ediOng photos as part of their Victorian week. Children took photos of themselves in a Victorian style and then edited them to make them look like they had been taken during the period. Year 3 and 4 have began their coding element of the curriculum, using KODU, sodware previously used in year 5 and 6. The children are really enjoying this program, as it allows the user to create their own computer games! Previous to this, phase 3 have been creaOng Vlogs and learnt how to use Google Drive. Year 5 and 6 have been invesOgaOng safe internet usage, as part of their crime topic, specifically protecOng personal informaOon. Previously, filmed Vlogs about their liber pick that they conducted around the local area. We have lots of new, exciOng changes happening to the digital media curriculum over the summer including a new Apple Mac suite in Fulbridge Academy High, new ‘Dash’ robots to teach children early coding skills and HTML coding for year 5 and 6 to build their own websites.
