URBAN INFILL PROJECT // Fall 2016, Iowa State University From the brief: “Design a replacement building in downtown Ames with a residential unit above a groundfloor retail space. Sectional qualities should reveal volumetric character, light, and vertical movement.
FOOD HUB PROJECT // Spring 2017, Iowa State University
From the brief: “Look at a new typology, ‘food hub’. The project demands that you research and engage with the questions of food culture, food security, food equity and food miles in a rigorous way and for you to produce a program for the community of Minneapolis and the neighborhood.”
DESIGN BUILD PROJECT (YEAR 2 STUDIO COLLABORATION*) // Spring 2016, ISU
From the brief: “We are designing and constructing a seating / dining area that is also suitable for play and exploration and integrates solar powered lighting. As a studio of over 80 students we worked together to integrate our visions and ideas to fulfill the goals and needs of our client. My specific roles throughout the course of the project were head of lighting design, co-leader of logistics during the construction phases, as well as a member of the presentation team during client meetings and presentations. Communication between my lighting design team and construction/construction document team was complex and required a lot of creative problem solving.
FORT ZONE LANDSCAPE PROJECT // Fall 2017, Iowa State University
From the brief: “In Summer of 2015, a group of Ames kids told by their parents to get off their phones got together and constructed a fort out of found material in Munn Woods. Our project followed up on the idea of these Fort-Zones as a speculative history looking back from 2040 to 2015, of the history and architecture of Fort-Zones, over the 25 years. I developed a large three-dimensional grid situated within tall grass. This grass could be molded around the structure to blur the boundary between landscape and the built environment. Over time it eroded and kids began to dismantle and re-assemble it how they pleased.
