Online Editors Direction for 2010 Frock Paper Scissors Website

The site is the online home of

Frock Paper Scissors, a

Brisbane focused, men’s and women’s fashion and lifestyle/culture magazine.

Content will be separated into three main sections: female fashion, male fashion and lifestyle/culture, so we want the website’s design to highlight these different points of interest.

This reflects the aesthetic of the magazine

And, unlike years past, we want to run it as a

functional website. This means using a design that can be easily updated to promote new content.

This is what the website looks like now:

We need a design that better highlights the content, and instantly draws the reader’s attention.

Be creative! Come up with an amazing proposal... this website should be fun to visit, and to put together.

We have some very basic guiding ideas of what we’d like to see from your proposals, but they are obviously just that... A guide.

HOME PAGE A simply-designed, stunning feature home page that clearly links to the frock, paper, and scissors sections, with a minimalistic, small site menu down the bottom.

Clicking on one of the main sections for the site will take you to a page featuring content for that section.

Further content will be displayed in boxes underneath a main features slide, similar to something like this:

Or this:

Another option to consider is designing it with the content scrolling down in chronological order

Other segments we would need designed:

BASICS LIKE... An ‘About’ and ‘Contact’ page, and a page for all articles to be hosted in chronological order

SHOP: A picture-based way of showing shop listings with short write-ups

EVENTS: Which would feature either an interactive calendar, or an interesting way of displaying information about upcoming events

MAGAZINE: Which is where the flip-through digital copy of the hardcopy magazine will be. Also included in here will be an archive system of previous year’s magazines and internet copy that need to be hosted

GALLERIES: We are hoping to have really stunning ways of displaying photographic content this year. We believe it’s important for them to feature on the main pages, but also to have a well-designed home for them. Having sub-sections displayed with a picture, then individual galleries displayed with pictures, then clicking through to a slideshow with a side text bar could be one option.

PROFILES: This is really important. Displaying a picture and info of each fashion graduate for this year. We ideally want the ability to hover over each picture to reveal information, much like with the home page concept. We imagine it looking something like this:

GRADUATES 2010
