The site is extrapolated from google earth representing Madrid, Spain.


Excavation and Transformation T h e exercise established a foundation for a s u i t a b l e p rog ram, an d building. Sur r ounded b y multiple four - five storey buildings, this i n f o rmed a certain dimension that would fit into t h e u rba n fa b ri c.

Book storage Staff catalgues the collection. The areas will be stored according to the appropriate category. Book shelves are essential. Staff rooms Lunch-rooms, lockers storage, toliets. Staff entry Backdoor access Toliets Essential to all levels with easy access and clarity. Transit areas circulation of books. Returned books back on shelves Loading dock The reciveing and sending of courier mail, express post, furniture etc. Quiet study/reading area. The area where patron can do work, read or sort out the books they have colelcted. Borrowing area Patron occupy this space before exiting the centre to borrow al lthe books they need. Cafe area. Food court like service staff and patrons are able to find lunch or snack.Reception Information desk, membership sign in. Classrooms used to hold classes of a certain subject of each month. Reserves area Area mainly occupied by staff in sorting and putting books aside. Non-borrowing books are kept in this section. Learning wokshop (people come in to learn to search the net, source databases, filter through catalogues) Media Storage Storage of overhead projectors, cameras, tv, dvd players, vhs players. Carpark Allow for easy access to street. Staff/public zonnings Computer labs. The rooms that allow the computer usage. Searching databases and journals. Reception Information desk, membership sign in.

Occupation and Circulation T h e idea of the library and how someone would i d e al l y w a l k throu g h th e space was m y intial t h o ught for this exercise. A circular navigation p a t h i mmed i ate l y came to m ind. A continuous and n o n -di sru p ti ve p a th so that the patr on can sear ch t h e catalogue with one movement.

Campus Walkabout 1 T h e Ta s k e n t a i l a w a l k a r o u n d t h e c a m p u s i n v e s t i gating the details around building along the campus awalk. The quick sketches of how each joint was constructed were idenified.
