he Royal BC Museum’s mission is to promote an understanding of the living landscapes and cultures of British Columbia and engage people in a dialogue about their future. Staying true to this mission, in the midst of the Victoria International Chalk Art Festival, Royal BC Museum played host to one of the most celebrated artists in this genre, Tracy Lee Stum. NICHE magazine was honoured to have exclusive access to the museum, the artist and her exceptional work of chalk art. Respected Los Angeles based 3D chalk artist Tracy Lee Stum, along with local First Nations artist Jamin Zuroski, created a twenty foot square 3D creation in chalk. The artistic duo started working on their masterpiece in Royal BC Museum’s Clifford Carl Hall on September 10, 2014 and finished on Sunday September 14, 2014. Thousands of chalk art fans, museum visitors and awestruck tourists watched as the art, titled Nature’s Spirit, literally came to life over the five day period.
