Full-Time Faculty- Human Services Academic Dean April 25, 2014 Macy, Santee, or South Sioux City, NE Campus

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Faculty, Full-time 12-month contract with a minimum of forty hours per week, to include class preparation time and office hours. Teaching assignment may include day, evening, off campus and/or distance learning courses. Teaching responsibilities include teaching courses, maintaining scheduled office hours, developing curriculum, assessing student learning, assisting in the development and implementation of a College-wide educational assessment plan at the course, program, and institutional levels. Teaching assignments may include a full-range of courses such as Introduction to Native American Human Services, Introduction to Counseling Techniques, Introduction to Native American Alcoholism, Introduction to Group Counseling Skills, Crisis Intervention, Ethical & Legal Issues in Human Services Professions, Introduction to Community Counseling, Introduction to Family Counseling, Alcohol/Drug Assessment, Case Planning & Management, Medical and Psych Aspects of Alcohol/Drug Issues, Clinical Treatment in Chemical Dependency. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Human Services or related fields required. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be proficient with basic computer programs and operation. The candidate must be able to show evidence of effective leadership and a background of proven success in working with students, administrators and faculty. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Possess strong discipline expertise, particularly in the area of Human Services and/or Counseling Psychology. Have the able to incorporate active and experiential learning strategies. Proven ability to teach at the community college level and demonstrate knowledge of working with diverse cultures and populations. Knowledge of and experience in the following areas: meeting institution-level accreditation standards and expectations; employing best practices in assessment of student learning and academic program outcomes; and utilizing assessment management and accountability software within a variety of academic disciplines. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: The administration of NICC reserves the right to assign instructional load. The normal full-time faculty teaching load is fifteen (15) credit hours or two hundred twenty-five (225) contact hours per semester. Position may require some travel between campuses or travel for training/workshops. Candidates for teaching positions who are invited for an interview will be asked to demonstrate their teaching effectiveness in a simulated classroom, laboratory, or other relevant pedagogical situation, the conditions of which will be determined in advance and shared with all candidates prior to the interview.
